I can only hope that the aging hippie class has come to realize that it was the politicians and generals at fault, not the troops. The troops were getting their asses shot off in a war they did not want nor wish to participate in… I’m glad to see that you survived and although I was not one of the rowdy crowd, please accept our apologies for your service and honorable behavior. Jane Fonda and her ilk be damned….

It was so stupidly easy at that time to be a protester, but even stupider was protesting the US victims of the war who were the soldiers, as if they ordered the war. What idiots.

. . . 14months in country w/ 173d Abn Bde, '65-66 . . . walking point was the unlucky draw, usually appointed to the 'best point', the one who knew WTF was going on, and had a '6th sense' about where the VC were . . . not some FNG. We were the best unit in Vietnam. period

The thing that pisses me off about flame thrower units is that they should be heavily armored. We already know they are bulky targets, might aswell protect them as much as possible. I know that gear would be horribly heavy but damn better than nothing

We never seem to find out who is making strategic decisions before the guys go in and who is making tactical decisions when the guys call for help. The result was far too many casualties related to those decisions... and...the very same thing was done in Afghanistan.

They did the same to my dad when he got back from Vietnam and went back to Chicago. Rip. My father was combat engineer and Purple Heart recipient for being wounded with a gut shot.

Ahhh, the A Shau Valley. My gransfather was there the same time this dude was. His childhood best friend was killed on hamburger hill. He acompanied his body back to Portage County, NE Ohio. Was so disgusted by the war and how it was fought that he went A Wall, if you knew/know my grandfather you cant believe it. He went back before he could be court martialed, but too late for a free flight back, so he bought his ticket and upon landing rhey were being shelled. Said he basically paid to die

So sad the American soldiers, that were doing their duty to their country, were treated is such a hateful manner. I don't recall these hateful people flipping off or spitting on LBJ for escalating the war so he and his griends could profit from Americans dying. Thank you for your service. Find peace in knowing that the silent majority were on your side.

Hello I would kindly make a suggestion. If you could come down to Alabama to do interviews with some of our Vietnam vets. I’ve met quite a few of them and needless to say their stories are incredible. So if you feel like your channel is hitting a content drought Alabama houses a few vets that have amazing stories to tell 😄
