Having literally just gotten hired on with a new company while watching this, I'm most definitely getting more than a few pointers and further inspiration on, in the words of BioShock Infinite, "Don't be a dimwit", most especially on the first day. Definitely glad I can say I never thought about doing this, even when I myself once started out working within a retail background despite how stressful or desperate it seemed.
