@annatanneberger15 күн бұрын
@@aggravatedHart You are right. All I know is that America is a first world country, while I live in the third world (Africa). I never had the money to travel (now 70), but I have read a lot, throughout my life, and we didn't have TV while I was growing up, so my opinions are not based on Hollywood and TV studios. Also, I had the experience of my country being turned from a first world country into a third world country by "regime change" (foreigners teaching us a lesson in democracy - or wanting our resources). So I have experience of both worlds. Also, my grandfather was a cop, when we were still a first world country - and he patrolled the streets of Johannesburg on foot with a baton and a whistle (to summon help). I get the impression Americans sit in their comfortable first world apartments, taking an uninterrupted supply of electricity, fresh water, etc for granted and watch TV, where they are told how they are suffering under authoritarian regimes and fascistic policing. You take if for granted you can dial 911 and there will be a cop on your doorstep offering help. I'm astonished by the unfenced gardens. My tiny cottage has a 15-foot fence topped with electric fencing. Neighbours club together to hire private security to patrol our streets. For an extra fee you get a panic button. Then armed men will arrive in body armour and take care of the intruder. The court system has also collapsed, so no process other than for the low-life to be taken somewhere and "convinced" to never come back.

Not that it excuses her behavior, but I just wanna add that not every wheelchair user is completely immobile from the waist down. Some people can still walk or have some mobility in their legs and they only need the wheelchair sometimes. My grandmother can walk, but she’s developed poor coordination over the years, so whenever she has to leave the house for a decent amount of time, she brings her wheelchair for safety. At home she barely needs it, she can just sit down or brace herself on the walls and furniture.
