Explained very well and a wonderful demonstration of the traditional way to perform this finish. I make yakisugi myself in the United States and I have been lucky enough to visit Japan and see how this is done on a larger scale in factories throughout the country. So wonderful to see the way it has been done for hundreds of years in your video.

Hikoki manufactures a 36V, brushless, 165mm rail saw that fits their metal guide rail. The guide rail is 5mm thick, 1600mm long and 180mm wide. I cannot find this guide rail listed in Hikoki’s 2024 catalog.

It seems that the products being sold in Japan and overseas are different. Is this because of that?

Hi, what are the symbol names for grids past the eto line, if you had ten vertical grids what are gridlines 7, 8, 9 and 10 marked as? I understand the number grids are just the number counts 1,2,3,4 etc. What are the vertical symbols based on, is it alphabetical? Thanks Hi, I think i have it now, i changed translation to Japanese the symbols are inside the Japanese quotes marks an the reverse order. hope its correct!

That's right. In ancient Japanese, the direction of the characters is reversed.

May i ask a question? Is it possible that ancients used this method for freshly cut wood? I know that the carbohidrates of the vascular system caramellize in this way and enhance the structure. But with seasoned wood there is no fluid. Thank you very much.

Wood that has not been dried will not burn well. It is necessary to dry it to a certain extent.

Wait so Ki Ura is the side of the board that's closer the the pith of the tree and that's the side you should burn? Other sources say you should burn the outer side ... 🤔

There is no absolute right answer. It depends on what you value. I would argue that the back should be burned, taking into account the effects of drying due to the characteristics of the wood.
