@@_yomogiya Thank you for your reply, In the west this joint is called a Castle joint, I have also seen the same joint called the japanese shiro joint by various people on KZbin. It may well be another case of misreading the Japanese alphabet, much like yaki-sugi and shou sugi ban. hope this helps.

@@Andrew-uy5gh I don't think there is anything like the Castle Joint in Japan. Similar to Castle Joint is aigaki.

@@_yomogiya 研ぎについて一つ教えてください。鉋や鑿はベタ研ぎしか見かけませんが、包丁のように小刃付けはしないんでしょうか？

@@rtoh4910 2段研ぎののことでしょうか？先端だけ少し角度つけて研ぐような感じ？ 鉋も鑿もこれをやる人もいます。 2段研ぎは、一般的ではないかもしれませんが、そこは、それぞれの好みかなと思います。
