True Duane heads know there are TWO versions of the solo on this song- the first take was rattling so he did a second take the next day. I think this is the second, next day take. One was on the Cowboy release the other on the Duane Allman anthology vol 1 or 2 not sure. I think this one is the second day. I could be wrong though. They’re both out there.

Terry Kath at his best. Thankful this is preserved. I cannot find any quality live video of Oh Thank You Great Spirit another one of Terry’s greatest songs.

My all-time, fave ABB selection! Glad I found this, after my disappointment of the Filmore recording on KZbin that is missing Gregg’s vocals…

First came the Allman Brothers. Then came, Grinderswitch, The Charlie Daniels Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, Blackfoot, The Outlaws. My cover band in 80-81. We covered them all. Because they were the best and we couldn't go wrong. Hughie. Billy. Allen Collins. Gary Rossington. Dickie Betts. Duane Allman. Charlie Daniels. Toy Caldwell. God rest your souls.

Lee now podcasts, episode 101 just today. Orange cat, and orange hair, has some great story back in the day. He played with Hendrix, even same show with VanHalen, same stage as Janis Joplin, lots of history. Turns out it was not a B3, but an A model, heavily modded by a guru of the Hammonds he explained how he got the fantastic bass, a full octave lower. He even had an early Hammond repossessed!!

Yes I think all the Bloodrock albums up to USA are the best sounding of all their albums. I bought the Lee Pickens album in 1974 or 1975 at a mall. Hold On and Sail Away all good songs but the Bloodrock songs Melvin Laid an Egg, Cheater, Gimmi Your Head and to many others to list were all great rockers to listen to. I never got to see them. What a bummer.
