I always aim for the pure numbered blues color match, greens, reds color match, and golds for 2014 Prizm and 2017 Topps Chrome. I think those are the ones worth collecting.

I like to rip hobby boxes and I’ll grade and keep most any cards I get that are scare. If something is rare and I’m not into the player I’ll just eBay it instead. The only cards I’ll buy on the secondary market are Messi and CR7 graded auto cards. I’m not really into CR7 the way I’m into Messi. Over half the value of my collection are the Messi and Ronaldo auto cards. I’ll also grade any Messi or CR7 card that is numbered that I pull. Your analysis on Mbappe and Haaland is spot on. Both are great but neither will come close as far as accomplishments and to boot, their cards are overpriced at least compared to CR7 and Messi. The only player I could imagine getting close at this point would be Yamal. Hes young, plays for a strong national team and a popular club team and gets a lot of minutes (all the reasons why he’s a better prospect than Guler). It doesn’t appear he’s as talented but I didn’t watch Messi play at 16 or 17 either.

The Eusebio Victoria is not super rare... but they are pretty cool... it is printed on super thin paper and many are extremely miscut ... I would take the Beckenbauer early days auto over the modern re-run.. that Barboso is a rookie btw... ok week, but not crazy... I personally love the Rivelino card (I was not the buyer) but yes it has a bunch of different colors

Good stuff man… for me these always worked… have goals that you are willing to stretch for… and try to have some limits in your own person “card calculator”…. These will not always prevent you from “making mistakes”, but it will drive you more towards things that YOU value and make any “market pain” more easily endured…. It is always great to hear what other people think and why, but it is super important to follow the beat of your own drum… by the way, great work on the Garrincha pyramid… It is pretty much spot on to my eyes and great that it helped you get in the 1954 …. Awesome stuff!

Desconocida means "unknown" in Spanish... so the Gento and Di Stefano are not necessarily from the same set (though these appear to be similar)... I picked up the Coluna... fun one... decent week, but not crazy for sure...

I managed to snag the Vecchi Garrincha and the authentic Aqua Pele. The garrincha is beat but that Pele looked beautiful I’m having that shipped to me, can’t wait to see it in person.

In 1978, the French women's team was world football champion in Taiwan. This was not a “VISA FIFA COCA COLA” tournament, that’s why no one knows. In 1977, Glowacki, a former player of the French team, who already found that the Panini albums were not great, released a French championship album with for the first time a double page with the women's national team of his country. Having the first stickers of a world champion women's team was not a very expensive grail to achieve. I have a random Topps chrome gold Lava from Mbappe which cost me the same. Depending on your time and budget, The Best Way To LEVEL UP Your Collection is to be curious and search. And not to eat Topps and Panini like McDonalds, unless it's a Benzema rookie sticker of course. 😀great video.

What puts the Lamine Yamal Este in perspective ... you can still get a raw copy on Panini's website for €0,40 ... AND you can also get a raw copy of the 2023-24 Megacracks Master Rookie card from Panini for that exact same amount. i.e. ... there are thousands upon thousands of copies of those stickers ... granted not all graded PSA10, but man the potential numbers there ...

Ebay needs to change their policy. It should be: you bid for anything above $300, you need to have the money on deposit at ebay, and your bid is binding.

I struggle with the idea of needing money loaded into an account. Because typically with an auction you don't know when the card you want is going to show up, and how much it is going to go for, so how do you know how much to load up or if you'll even win it at all... There's no perfect scenario, but ebay would make huge strides if they simply deleted non-paying listings and had some form of accountability for this type of stuff.

Fun video. Like the analogy to Bird/Magic. Messi/Ronaldo, as you intimated, were/are bigger, but I would amplify that to say that their rivalry seriously elevated the sport’s recognition. Well, that, satellite TV, the Internet, and social media. Average American knows these guys’ names. Special era indeed. I wish I had followed it more closely but wasn’t into European club soccer until 2021 😢

I don't believe it was misleading at all. I put the graph up their to show that the popularity of soccer cards started primarily in 2020, and thus the massive ramp up in supply of soccer cards began around the same time. That is basically at the end of their careers, which was meant to illustrate that for most of their career the amount of cards/stickers produced was meant for a much more niche audience.

I collect Messi as I've watched his whole career, and I have a few Ronaldo cards. I usually only pick up stickers and cards of Messi with good images of him with the ball in the photo. He's probably my favorite athlete, I collect all sports, but it has been very special watching them both have such good long careers. Michael Jordan was fun to watch but his career doesn't compare to Messi. Even the goats are scared of the lion.... and yes maybe Ribery and Haaland should have a B'allon of Messi's.

I just sold my entire collection and Im going all-in on Messi and 'Naldo (as my 2YO calls him)! J/K of course.....but some seriously valid points here. Maybe someday we'll see some of these new young phenoms stay healthy and motivated long enough to come close to touching these two greats. Seems like staying healthy is more of a challenge these days with the level that so many sports are being played at. Thanks again for the content, it's some of my fav soccer content on the 'tube.

I wouldn’t try to get every card out there for the 2, but definitely would aim for rookies, WC, most pre modern MGK and top modern sets (14, 17, specific case hits like kaboom and color blast) - it may sound like a huge list but I don’t really think it is

Everyone talks about the rookie cards/stickers for Messi and Ronaldo, as they should, but I also think the 2nd and 3rd year material for these two is also way undervalued right now ... along with much that comes after but still before 2014 / modern. I have very little of the early stuff, but I think it's a good goal for anyone interested in these two giants of world football.

ive scoured the last ends of spain and portugal , making contacts with spanish and portuguese collectors and finding absolut gems in collections. The Spanish and most europeans are not massive card collectors nor do they have any desire to send cards for grading to USA. Thus there is arbitrage opportunities in this market but you gotta work hard and build up the network , its not easy. Most sellers on E3ay are either priced too high or sell junk that cant be graded(surface marks etc) COMC is a also a crap shoot cuz the pics are so poor its just impossible to really know what you are picking up raw. The second year cards for both as well as the mundicromo and megacracks till 2018 Id say are all such low pop compared to other goats in other sports its a joke. the question is when does the market begin to appreciate the real OG spanish panini and mundicromo releases instead of all this modern nonsense refractors of 10 different colors of the same card ?? try finding a 2nd or 3rd yr Ronaldo panini mega craques card in mint condition and lets talk about rarity!!

Messi is now clear of Cr7 even though Ronaldo belongs at the top along w Pele , Messi, Zidane etc. the gap between messi and ronaldo cards will continue to widen over time as people realize Messi finished ahead career wise over Cr7.
