When pulling anything that’s stuck,never tie onto 1 cleat,Make a bridle, especially in a warrior
@TheFishLocker21 сағат бұрын
It’s tied around the Samson post up front and then wrapped around the cleat, not tied off. You’re never going to work a bridle off a small boat like this that isn’t putting unequal load on one side over the other. Plus I prefer working over one side rather than centre stern to stay away from the engine

You don’t seem to wear a lifejacket either John? Apologies if I missed it but it looked like you also climbed into the splash well without wearing any safety equipment and nor do you use the kill cord on your outboard.

Actually, Scorpions are arachnid arthropods, not crustaceans. I can't speak for other species, but hardback crabs make excellent bait for cod. They crush them effortlessly with their pharyngeal teeth. You can use small ones to tip worm baits, ensuring they do not, come off on the cast, or you can use whole large hardbacks, with the shell smashed a little to release scent. I've caught loads of cod that way, and even small ones take the hardbacks. The range of species down there is amazing. Hope, you appreciate it! Up this way, (Scotland), there is nowhere near the same diversity. Good vid. Very informative for anyone wishing to learn. P.S. I've been a passionate angler for nearly 60 years, in all types of angling, but for the life of me I cannot, tie fluorocarbon securely! I regard it as the biggest con and waste of money ever. I've done rather well in coarse match fishing using mono, proving it makes no real difference, yet everyone still, insists on fluoro. Sure, it's tougher, but it's tougher to tie a secure knot, also!

Hi John, following this video as a Christmas present for my dad. Do you see an issue with using all 2mm twine for the funnels, without switching to a smaller sized twine??
@TheFishLocker7 күн бұрын
@@johnward2693 - if the funnels are large then no there isn’t an issue. But they work better, especially when small when the twine is thinner and softer.

Thanks for such an entertaining and informative video. Here in France whelks, des bulots, are an essential if not the most attractive part of any "plat de fruits de mer" along with crabs, langoustines, prawns, oysters, cockles, winkles and if you have the money a lobster or langouste. I never knew before though that they were found on a sandy sea floor out at sea or how they were caught. Thank you.
