My Faraday garbage can did block cell phone reception. I used conductive gasket on lid and foil tape on all seams and penetrations.. Do it right or don't bother.

Grounding the can does help dissipate the energy into earth, especially if you have an EMP event. Like ear plugs, you can still hear quiet sounds in a quiet environment, but very loud sounds will be reduced enough to not cause damage, maybe. Grounding the can will do nothing to help with the small signals, but a massive shock wave will be stopped better when providing a path for the energy in the metal can to ground.

Yeppers, a good idea is to visit a Scout Shop unless you are too far away. The Handbook and Fieldbook are known to various groups for how useful they are. Once in the Shop, one can find other printed options that are also useful for preparedness.

Faraday cages attenuate (reduce) RF energy. The better the Faraday cage the more the RF energy will be attenuated. Garbage cans do not work well as Faraday cages. They are made of low conductivity metal. Typically tin. Line it with a few layers of aluminum foil and electrically seal the lid connection and other seams. Should improve effectiveness significantly.

the issue is the black seal. it should not be shoved all the way on the machine. pull it out away from the machine but still on there and let the door set it when you close it. it will push the seal as far as it needs to go onto the machine it will seal. do not mess with the door adjustments.

Been geoing through this on my Dakota. I put a punch between the upper balljoint stud and the lower control arm, with a jack under the control arm. Lifted the whole truck up just on the stupid balljoint, and it still wouldn't release.

Have a neighbor who thinks his garbage can makes his Ham Radio SAFE. I laugh and walk away. If we get attacked by EMP, it will be so intense, even ungrounded Faraday cages will FAIL to protect contents. In the Military we shield using ALL grounded, with TRIPLE redundancy. I just got mine and its failing to seal, I fig'd out the hinge side to loosen jam nut and tighten the hex bolt but found a diff guy showing those 4 screw heads at top/btm and left and right are what you adjust for the drum to make handle tighter. I gotta do that now. Actually, that guy I saw elsewhere is wrong. that doesn't adjust squat. I just took a crescent wrench and bent my lock tab towards the door and now its tighter so you can get rid of that tape.

These don't work well. Put a bucket under the diverter hose, and put one under the gutter. The diverter catches only a small fraction of the total water.

Been at this same thing for 5 days I got the uppers out both sides. Just the stubborn bottom joints. I’ve tried everything that I can think of. Even the pickle fork and jack. I even got a cheater pipe for the pickle fork and still no budge at all.

It might. But they are tuned for microwave frequencies, I would worry the EMP could have a broader range of frequencies and could slip past.

It's not that I am making any extraordinary claims about the radiation, but it would be nice to protect myself from it nonetheless. I'm wondering how much protection I would get if I just hung some aluminum screen on my wall where the meter is. The meter is on the exterior of the house outside of a bedroom. And if I were to hang a square of aluminum screen on the wall inside the bedroom, would that block most of the radiation? I'm thinking of a square of screen maybe about 5 ft by 5 ft or so. The siding of the house is made of stucco, by the way. I don't know if perhaps that helps protect from the radiation, does it? It has also come to my attention that my cell phone gives off more radiation than I thought. I'm looking into what can be done about that.
