The “and” of the count is the upbeat of the 8 counts of a bar. You are using it wrong.

I get very confused with the first step being with the right foot :/ isn’t it more common to start with the left? Is there a reason for this? Thank you.
@krambodance33772 ай бұрын
It’s because the style of salsa that I dance and teach is Salsa New York (on2, Mambo). Traditionally in this style when we dance solo steps we always start forward with the right foot. The start with the left is common in the Salsa on1 style (LA style) also with some Cuban 🇨🇺 styles. Hope this helps ☺️

Question, from female followers perspective- do I do opposite step of yours since your stepping first as a lead or do I the female follower copy your exact sequence to foot?
@krambodance33773 ай бұрын
A very good question ☺️. Traditionally you can do exactly the same steps as a leader and as a follower when dancing shines. No need for mirroring or translating to opposite steps. It’s solo steps and we do them all in the same direction.

Finally.... a teacher who knows how to teach...!!! This video is amazing and is a "MUST VIDEO" for anyone who wants to learn to dance like the native dancers who invented the dance in the first place. Moving your body to the "Rhythm" of the music. Thank you.

The highlight of a salsa song, especially the "salsas romanticas", is the "coro especial". Usually happening after the "puente" (bridge). Aka Special Chorus. Here, the chorus singers sing something as "call", and the sonero (a) - lead salsa singer sings something in return as the "response". When the salsa singer does the response, also known as "la contesta"; moreover, a lot of Hector Lavoe salsa music fans call this the "complaint" or "rant" in the "response" - which is known as the "el pregon." Sometimes it is called "La llamada" (call) y El Pregon". Shortened as something like "Llamada y Pregon". In almost all salsas, this is usually the highest point of this Latin music. In some other salsa songs, like "La Cartera", a Fania Records favorite, the "Pregon" is not done by the salsa singer- but by a solo trumpet sometimes, as a variant, in place of a "sonero (-a)". Sometimes the instrumental "pregon" is added in between the regular vocal "llamada y pregon", before going back to all vocals-only "llamada y pregon." Even Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz's "Aguzate" uses this technique too. The "Llamada y Pregon" in salsa has an affinity to the call-and-response music often seen in Africa.

I found your channel and I would love to see more footwork videos since they are easy to do at home alone. I haven't danced in awhile so reviewing some of the basics and techniques are great. I would love to see all levels. I like your instructions and the patterns you create! :)

Honestly. I think you do the best on2 men shines videos on KZbin. It's the correct level, great explanations and your patterns are always something that esthetically look good and interesting. Also, it's on the right NY-style rhythm, which a lot of other channels don't understand.

@krambodance3377 Жыл бұрын
It is on 2. You break forward on 2 when you dance footwork (usually solo) and you break back when you dance in a couple.

Spotting. Hm. It seems a good idea when there's just you and the mirror, but it's another story on a crowded moving dance floor!
@krambodance3377 Жыл бұрын
Well, you have to start somewhere, don’t you? Helps a lot on a crowded dance floor when you spent hours on your own and mastered it. It kicks in as a reflex and helps you navigate.
