I think it is important to balance repetition and variety. I practice a few different elements of my dancing for 5-10-15 minutes a day, before moving on to next thing. It can also be integrated into your warm-up. Llike 5 minutes of spotting, followed by 5 minutes of Suzy-Qs, followed by 5 minutes of shimmies, etc... I think having discipline to repeat certain elements is important, but it's also important to have a systematic approach to varying your practice. Will also help with the boredom of only doing one thing :)

Thank you for that great comment! , Indeed, you need to vary your practice, do it in turns have a schedule. However some people tend to jump from one excersise to another without a consistent focus on the basics or the little things that make a difference. It's easy to try every new, trendy thing. It's way harder to train, repeat, drill the mundain simple, basic stuff. Maybe thats why some people are way more professional because they practice even when they don't feel like it or not in the mood for it.

@@krambodance3377 I think most social dancers only practice when they go out dancing :) About jumping from one exercise to another, I think it happens when people get frustrated about not being able to perform it correctly. It helps to have someone show them how to break down a step or show them an exercise they can do to improve. Once they know how to train it, they can add it to their daily practice. For example, I only started drilling shimmies when I knew the proper mechanics. Before I was just shaking my whole body. I looked like I was having an epileptic seizure. It isn't fun to practice bad habits :)
