Fair play to ye man. Dont know how you get the energy to do the videos. I did Glenfinnan to Inverie in Sep, so only a taster of the full trail and I was wrecked each day. Sorry that you had blisters with the Altras, I had the same experience last year. I use Brooks trail shoes now or Salomon mid boots, no blisters at all. I had same pack as you and carrying roughly same weight. And the descents killed me with the pack weight, no way should anybody try to do this trail without walking poles. And agree on Firepot, they were muck, I couldnt fully eat one even though I was starving.

Stellar job, Craig. You should be well proud of yourself! Loved the entire series from start to finish. First thing I've enjoyed watching on KZbin in a while. I thought it was great that you showed the highs and lows of long distance hiking. Took me back to when me and my mates did the West Highland Way a couple of years ago. We are thinking of doing CW next year, so it was really helpful to see what we are in for. I'll definitely be skimming back through these videos a few times to remind myself of things. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!

I agree completely regarding not relying on "ankle support" boots. Your ankles will weaken and not working the muscles. I wear trail runners only and never even wear any waterproof foorwear but my feet adapt and I never get any blisters being wet day in day out. Great videos!!
@Mastiffmanoutdoors23 күн бұрын
Hi. Thanks for your comment. I would definitely use trail runners if I was to do another long through hike. I received some criticism about my choice of footwear... Saying that they caused my blisters... I disagree, my blisters were caused because I was unprepared in regards to the build up/training for this hike... My feet were too soft as I hadn't done much hiking leading up to this. I do though think that boots have their place,,, like winter time.
@hikersheep23 күн бұрын
@Mastiffmanoutdoors Agreed!! I hike a lot!! And i play tennis and dance. I have a lot of callous. 😁 I watched all your CWT videos, enjoyed it. I went the same route when i did CWT in 2023 and 2024. Sometimes i have trouble understanding your accent lol 😄 so i had to hit rewind and listen again and again. May i ask what British dialect is that? Im from the US and clueless.

Solid effort pal and glad you got on with the Lanshan! With you on the trail runners but I ended up going for Altberg Tabbing boots which honestly were a dream to hike the CWT in! They are a leather military boot but are designed to be super light, have the vibram sole, running shoe style rocker and are super fast drying! Zero blisters and seriously, seriously brilliant! I’ll still hike in trail runners but they will definitely be my go to for multi dayers in terrain like scotland! Enjoyed the vids and well done again pal! 👍🏻
