Your page cropped up when I was browsing through home. Good video and beautiful views in the morning. Almost spooky. Ref the mat when I started out I used self inflating too but had similar issues with size and not as sold. Ended up with a rab stratosphere and I use a folding z mat to add up the R to 6. Keeps cost down 👍

Class video there, fella 👍. I loved the scenery at the end with the snow too! One thing with self-inflating mats, they don’t really ‘inflate’, as such, there’s foam inside them which which when unrolled, they slowly ‘spring’ up, if you like, sucking air in in the process. In freezing conditions it takes a lot longer. And always you have to finish it off by blowing them up so they’re firm. And I don’t find them too brilliant on insulation from the ground- so i use an old foam roll mat underneath- works a treat 👌. That steak looked proper 🤤🤤😃. At one point when u were eating it, the video was very reminiscent of Dave’s wild camping’s antics (sadly no longer with us), not sure if you’ve ever seen those. Anyhow, keep up the good work mate 😃👍

I've had a look at his videos since you mentioned him. Real nice guy. It's always a shame when we lose the good guys. I've lost a few in the last few years and it's always hard. All we can do is keep on going ourselves I suppose x

Go for the exped mat. Mine is 4.7r I paid £90 , and I've been using it for 2 years now,so I've used it 24 nights and had it down to -7
