Lagoons have done plenty of circumnavigations, but yes, I would say most of them further north. But I would bet a fair few cut their teeth on a cruising cat or mono on a week's holiday, got into sailing and progressed onto other boats.

@@joedirt3226 yes, fair point except this is a one off and the aim is to spin off hydro, kite and foil tech off the back of it. A mixed approach is more likely to come up with the solutions long term, I wouldn't back one horse, but spread my R&D investment over multiple projects including synthetic fuels

@sterlingarcher1962 I think this Xtra Space model opens up the living space. Pretty impressive plus the master cabin up top is pretty unique (Neel also do this). The guy who bought the first one wants to do 10 day Atlantic crossings. There's the main advantage with this, high average daily mileage/ ability to avoid bad weather. Also there is only one engine to service and your fuel consumption will be half in the Doldrums. You are sailing from 5 knots of wind if you don't overload the boat.

She has 15% more upwind sail area than a Neel 52 (carbon mast option), but you are right to highlight that, this isn't a first-timers boat by any means. I don't think the comparison to the Beneteau makes sense, different market IMO

@@StudioBhobhoTrimarans are so much different to monos and the CW HH - while a great boat - is of a completely different era. Extra sail area translates to better light wind performance, and then reefing earlier when the wind builds. I’d trust M&Ms design on sail area…

All the Rapidos are intended to be performance cruisers. They're fast and can win races. It also means they can sail well in lighter air, and therefore sail more often and motor less. Sensible cruising would be to not use full power all the time.

I think it sounds like they had some good service from Rapido fixing all of the teething issues. I have yet to see a brand new boat with no problems to iron out, they are complex machines. You are often better off buying a 3 year old boat and letting the previous owner deal with them

SLV is also a custom boat and on a drama-filled channel. Several other Rapido owners have spoken up and confirmed their boats are fine.
