I am a Hokkien living in Kolkata, India. I was born in Kolkata and in our family we talk mainly in Hokkien but sometimes my Cantonese Mom would throw in some catchy phrases in Cantonese. I could understand here and there in your Fukkien but there are many subtle difference. Like for red we say Ah-ang. I think we are the only Hokkien living in India and my cousins also speak in Hokkien, so there is always someone talking in Hokkien around us.
