Your videos inspired me to climb the Eiger's west flank in summer. As a beginner mountaineer, I believe rappeling should be the only technical thing to master first for the west flank. Thank you for your videos, it gave me more passion for the mountains. Even though in Winter it gets too difficult. :)

Thank you for your kind words! I'm so glad my videos inspired your passion for the mountains. The Eiger’s west flank is an ambitious goal, and it’s great that you’re focusing on mastering technical skills like rappelling. Are you planning to attempt the climb alone, or will you have someone experienced with you? As a beginner mountaineer, I’d recommend trying some easier peaks first to gain experience and confidence. The Bristen could be a great choice-it’s challenging but manageable and will help you prepare for bigger climbs.

It's NEVER too late :-)

@toysrus24132 ай бұрын
@@never-too-late Thanks for the reply. I used to mountaineer up until I injured my back 2 years ago :( So I can only walk for 1-2 hours now and also if I was to slip I would be in big trouble. So I can't do another mountain yet. I am waiting for "further" help from the health service but I am not confident in them as they have barely helped me at all so far. I am on a very long waiting list for "pain management" (instead of surgery) because apparently I have to do that first. I think they want me to give up and live like this forever. But I am hoping I can save up to get private health care instead and get it fixed properly one day. So your videos give me something to look forward to and stay hopeful :) Thank you

I have really enjoyed watching your videos! I also have a question regarding the issues that I saw you having with your crampons. What is it about the crampon that is causing the issue, and have you resolved it yet? I have a similar boot and want to get crampons eventually without having problems.
@never-too-late2 ай бұрын
I'm glad you've enjoyed watching my videos! Regarding the crampon issue, the problem was with the metal bar that connects the front and back parts of the crampon. If you have larger feet, you might end up using the last adjustment hole, which can cause the two parts of the crampon to separate. To solve this, I bought a longer bar, which allows me to use the next adjustment hole instead, ensuring the crampon stays secure. There are still additional holes, so it's not at the last one anymore. Feel free to ask if you have more questions! Don't forget to share my videos with your friends and subscribe to my channel.

Glad to hear you're considering it! Here are a few tips: make sure to take a 60m rope with you. If you're not feeling confident at any point, it's okay to give up and return when you're ready. Also, if you start from the glacier cave parking, be prepared and in good shape, as it's a challenging route.
@Smallfrye2 ай бұрын
For anyone considering this route, it's worth knowing that especially in recent years, the top sections of the West Flank are extremely chossy and full of loose rock that can be very very dangerous. Even if the climbing is not of a high grade, loose terrain can make it pretty scary especially on the descent. I soloed the route in the summer 2024 season and had a few "oh shit" moments near the summit. Prepare accordingly and have the proper gear/experience.
@never-too-late2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the heads-up! I would also advise taking a 60m rope to help secure the descent. It's always better to be prepared, especially in areas with loose rock and chossy conditions. Stay safe out there!
