I saw REM on the Life’s Rich Pageant tour in the 80s at the Cleveland Public Auditorium, a neoclassic design built in 1920. It was epic-one of the best concerts ever.

I love this early raw REM and saw them play this wonderful energetic track live in Spring (1984 ) in a tiny club in Birmingham (UK) . Only around 100 people in the venue . But it was jumping with around half of that audience dancing right in front of the stage. I was one of them !

I was the exact right age to get REM growing up. Bought Murmur for Radio Free Europe and a few other tapes, but I didnt deep dive and pay attention. I wish I had paid more attention as it happened and learned every song on every album. It was right there for me and I didnt grab it.

dig the Syd Straw intro from "future 40's", which is a very slick song itself that Michael sang on with her. I saw them on this tour which was a solid rock n roll show. This was the first time that I saw them in a large stadium type show instead of halls. I prefer the older shows where it was easier to get up front.

So fortunate to have caught this tour 3 times, once in the front of the orchestra pit. Hands down the most amazing live band I've seen in my 53 years of living.

Its weird..Stipe didn't have a heavy southern accent..almost sounded like a Yank hipster actually but alot of their early stuff was so country influenced that he emulated that back country woods accent flawlessly
