West mark spears are more expensive than West Mark infantry but have the same defensive stats and lower attack than the infantry. Given they have access to good cavalry, why would anyone pick this unit?

I feel like they should get a unit of dismounted red shields of erkenbrand to give them a solid archer unit along the lines of the Bardian Marksmen

LOTS of units that inspire nearby troops! ALOT of troops that do that! That is is probably a way to partially offset the low defensive values.

Rohan's Siege strengths were something it took me a long while to become aware of back in the day but they for sure have some great tools to attack and defend. The only issue I have with them in the field is that lack of an Anchor unit, the Westmark Spears do a pretty decent job of holding wherever the fighting is going to be the hardest but I do miss having a nice long pike line.

I had never really thought about it but Mordor with Pikes would be a very scary sight. Their Orc Javelins are for sure the unsung heroes of may siege attacks, having that little shield value just makes them so unpleasant to shoot at for a defender, at least with Snaga Skirms you can melt them with arrow fire and maybe rout them off with fire arrows but most Mordor Commanders will be more than happy to let you pour shots into these guys.

You are right, this is exactly why I have always dislikes the Witchers. Easy to hide and can change the outcome in a few good hits. Many those units would have made a huge difference, maybe not but Witchers certainly did.

It could be nice a 5v3 because we know the defenders will automatically win if 4v3 but it is a nice and close game however the elves played poorly they're hesitant to support Dale and Rhovarion due to late help and response and lose the battle. Overall, the attackers played extremely well, they executed perfectly.

I would describe this battle as the elves watch especially lothlorien the human factions make headway and grind themselves to barely anything left and then join in at the last leg of the battle. The Mirkwood player should have left a small distraction force and used his army to support the human forces, the Lorien player shouldn’t have blocked themselves with their own siege towers and waited till they were pretty much all that was left.

Only other time I've seen a Dol Gulur map was in Vanilla TATW...this version is bananas. Kudos to the devs, dang.

Yess!!! I missed the battle replays

The elven players played poorly here, especially Mirkwood. They were just too cautious and pulled the trigger in helping their allies way too late. Mirkwood just sent in units piecemeal for them to just die.

It's crazy how an 18 year old game has better sieges than modern total wars

Watching the elf players made me want to eat glass, but everyone else made me want to wash it down with the nectar of the gods. Gg

I like factions/theme for this, always nice when there are armies that make decent geography or political sense. Two Elven attackers can make things a bit scary for the attackers since they cannot really rely on their numbers to win, with Misty on the defence though they were never going to have a numbers advantage anyway though. Not played on the new Dol Guldur yet, I love the look of it but same as with the new Carn Dum I am sure it'll take me a few games before I work out a comfortable attack strategy.

Witchers vs archers? Come on Umad be fair,im more than sure even you know that is definitely not a contest, well judging by battles ive seen that feature Angmar. Also youve seen how dark those caves are and with all those fighting units around make it nxt to impossible to keep track of them in there in those surroundings?This from a humble subscriber.

I'm pretty happy for what's happened with the Spears of Rivendell, even when they were made into a Halberd unit it always felt they were struggling to find their place. With their change of stance now I am pretty excited to see how they get used.

It crashes so much for me

I remember it being said back in the day that armor upgrades, despite showing as a one point bump in the UI, actually have the effect of a two point bump. Did that change? Was that ever actually true? If it is true, then upgraded Gondorian units are chunkier than they look purely on the stats menu.

To maybie fresh it up a little you coud maybie occasionaly a series where you try out other medieval 2 mods.

Even though Gondor have lost a few units I really feel they have become far more effective in Sieges, they were always pretty competent but they're a real powerhouse now.
