As someone who earns £1200 per day on an oil rig I simply cannot imagine how you can survive on this. 45 hours of your life for £625 is pretty much slave labour. In the 3rd richest country on the planet this is a disgrace. How can you put anything back into the economy? This pay scale is so greedy and idiotic I am lost for words. Much respect for you actually doing it but my advice would be to stay where you are for now but up-skill and find something that pays more. No man should be working in any job for that amount of scraps.

Not that great for the hours worked these days...but like you say, it is all relative. By the way, your salary works out at £13.88 p/h and your overtime is only £14.50.....tight barstards. In my opinion it is a bit cheeky to make it look like the £26 per night out is part of your "wage"...then "they" say it is tax free and you're meant to clap and say whoopee doo?

Wrong… your salary isn’t 52k it is 32k pal. Overtime should not be calculated in to your annual salary as this is additional. You are employed on a £32,500 salary. Overtime isn’t consistent so you cannot work it out from one decent week

If i'm reading that right your weekly pension contributions is: £16.44 (from the employer) + £27.40 from your pay would work our roughly 4% of your earnings for both you and your employers contributions. That seems low, I would def increase that by a lot!

Here's one of many different reasons why I gave it up, I was on Falmouth high street, a blue badge holder had 'abused' his badge blocking the road, me and the traffic warden had to go and hunt him down took 20 minutes to find him. The rest is the abuse he gave me and the warden.

I get so sick and tired of other drivers going on about how great a job HGV driving is. It’s not good for everyone and depends what you want in life. This blokes pretty young looking. I am in my mid fifties and my body is wrecked with driving. I keep myself pretty fit but the stiffness is now getting to me. The security guards at my DC’s I go to get paid better than we do. And service stations at night have nothing open. Apart from some shop selling coffee for £4 a cup and £6 stale sandwiches. People need to know it’s not all a bed of roses and if you have a young family it’s crap. I don’t want people spending a fortune getting all the licenses and then end up hating the job. Try van driving for a while to get a taste for it. And then get your HGV licence. Plus if you’re young and planning to get married. No woman wants to see her husband two days a week or fortnight. my main piece of advice is. when you go to get your medical make sure get you head examined at the same time.

HGV drivers should be on a minimum of £1000 a week take home. Everything any of you own came by road on the back of a truck at some point on its journey. Drove class 2 skip trucks, tippers & roro trucks for 20 years. Last job I had was driving a 18 ton skip truck for 45 hours a week on £13.50 p/h. Every other Saturday 6 hours at £21 p/h. I did my class 1 in 2012 & haven’t driven one since the day I passed my test. Got sick of driving in the end, mainly cus of the traffic & other car drivers. I now work in a well known car factory building cars on £19 p/h for a 36 hour week, although I do do shifts now of 1 week mornings, 1 week nights & 1 week afternoons. But I’m earning more money with less stress & responsibly & less hours

A difficult job in todays driving conditions. May seem a reasonable wage but it includes overtime etc. If he's got a family and mortgage then his wife probably has to work as well. His basic rate for the responsibility he has needs to be higher. Some people love driving, some put up with it to earn a crust. It's not for everyone. Safe driving.

Hi . Thanks for your videos . I’ve got a question about if I work 12-13 hours two times a week and total driving 9 hours how much breaks should I have or take for 12 or 13 hours driving and other jobs. Thank you
@AshleyHaleUK6 күн бұрын
If you have done 9 hours driving realistically you would have done 45min for the first 4.5hrs and then the next 4.5 hours I would have a 15min break before reaching the total of 9 and then I'm covered working time up to the 12 hours. It's all more complicated than it needs to be.
