Beating Ocarina of Time as only Young Link? Truly an endeavor for the most dedicated and slightly masochistic gamers among us. Your perseverance and mastery of glitches are genuinely impressive. The infinite sword glitch and bomb hover tricks? Chef's kiss. But, darling, let's be real - this challenge sounds like pure agony at times. The endless hovering, precise glitches, and dealing with timers in the Fire Temple? Only someone with unyielding patience (or a love for suffering) would dare try this. And let’s not forget the Shadow and Spirit Temple hurdles, proving once again that not all heroes wear capes; some wield slingshots and deku sticks. The grand finale with Ganon was spectacular, and seeing Young Link triumph with that tiny but mighty frame was the perfect end to this arduous quest. Would I recommend this to my subjects? Absolutely not. But watching you conquer it? Pure entertainment. Kudos to you for pushing through and showing us what true gaming dedication looks like.

I'm glad this was more involved than just using ACE in Kokiri Forest. Though I'm also glad you at least referenced it. Gotta say though, even without that glitch, the fact that you can get to the final boss from friggin' Gohma of all places is really funny. This game was held together by duct tape and a prayer, but we loved it all the same. In fact, you could say that love is how we figured out just how flimsy the game''s coding is.
@MandatoryPixelКүн бұрын
Yeah, agreed! I've occasionally seen people say things to the effect of, "glitching and speedrunning games ruins them", and it's always been weird to me, because the people actually discovering and performing these tricks likely spent way more time on the game than most people, and that's probably because they love it enough to want to learn the ins and outs of it.

I already made a comment on this video, but I wanted to make another comment asking a question. I see you have a twitch channel and don't know if you already do this, but have you considered streaming your challenge runs?
@MandatoryPixel2 күн бұрын
I've considered it, but I'm not sure if it would be very entertaining! I take detailed notes as I do my playthroughs so I have all the info I need for the script, which means that every 5-30 minutes, I leave the game idle for a few minutes while I write down recent events and strategies. I think that might get annoying to watch! I won't say a definite no though, maybe I could try it sometime. I've never actually done a livestream of anything before, so I'm not sure if people would be entertained just hanging out while I take my notes, haha. I've put more consideration into streaming in general though! Not of a challenge run, but maybe playing Smash or Mario Kart with viewers, or just playing through a game normally and streaming it. Haven't done it yet though!
@jadelapont64502 күн бұрын
@@MandatoryPixel I will note there are quite a few KZbinrs that actually stream their script making along side gameplay, so there is definitely a market for it. I know I'd at the very least be interested in seeing a behind the scenes look at things, but also casual play on stream does seem fun as well. Either way I really am looking forward to whatever content you make since it's enjoyable. I'm actually thinking of livestreaming me doing your mario 64 challenge at some point since I think it would be a lot of fun. Plus I consider myself pretty decent-ish at mario 64 and I own 3D All-Stars.

I would have considered prioritizing a Bowser level after one of the failed runs, since Bowser bottlenecks other levels. And that's always good for options, until the anti-control rules get too cumbersome.

If I had submitted a rule, would "No Restrictions Rule" be allowed? Like as a very rare, one in a million, blessing to the multitude of curses? To clarify: It would just remove the current restrictions, but new ones could be added after.
@MandatoryPixel10 күн бұрын
I probably would've included it if you had somehow done that, but like I mentioned at the start of the video, I specifically avoided mentioning what my plan for the submissions was, so people didn't actually know I was going to do this wheel thing when they were submitting! I just asked for individual rules for a challenge run. So you wouldn't have really known there were restrictions to be cleared when submitting.

Glad I found your channel, been looking for another channel who does good challenge run content. Not sure about your stance on suggestions but if you're up for it, since you seem to gravitate towards older games, maybe a Doom (1993) challenge run? It'd be different from what you've done so far but I think it'd still fit the vibes of your videos.

Thanks! Hopefully my videos can entertain! Regarding suggestions, I'm certainly open to seeing what people are interested in! Can't guarantee I'll do them though. I don't have very much experience with Doom, so I'm not sure I'd have enough knowledge to do a challenge run of it.

I just ran into a bit of a predicament 😅 I forgot I had used a GameShark code for equipment and it gave me the silver scale. I haven’t needed it until now that I need to retrieve the bottle in Lake Hylia. I can only dive 1 meter even with the silver scale. I went back to Zora’s Domain and did the diving game to get the silver scale as the prize, but it remains grayed out. So I went a step further and caught a 10lb fish and held Z+R to get the golden scale, got it, but it still doesn’t show up and I can’t dive past 1 meter. Sucks because I just got this emulator and now I’m legitimately stuck
@MandatoryPixel12 күн бұрын
@@Jayscuba Weird! Is the code still on, maybe? Maybe it keeps reverting the inventory to the state the code puts it in. If you want to get the bottle, I'm not positive, but I think doing the glitch I used at 12:55 to get to the Water Temple in this video might work. Just position yourself so that Link will rise into the bottle. If that doesn't work, or if you don't particularly care about getting the bottle itself, you can skip past King Zora to avoid having to use Ruto's Letter using this glitch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nmmtZp5vZtSEm5I

I think it would’ve been more interesting (and fair) if you removed all the rules from the wheel that were active on the previous runs. That way we’d get to see more rules in play and not have any duplicates, which happened more often than I thought it would in the video. I guess 1/70 isn’t that rare. 😅
@MandatoryPixel12 күн бұрын
That's a good idea, actually! I'm not sure if I'll ever do another video exactly like this one for a future subscriber milestone, since it was already tricky to keep track of everything, but if I do I'll consider doing it this way! Would provide more variety for sure.
