That reminds me of the model ships my dad used to build. He would have loved to have been able to control them via remote. That would have been fun!

I was far enough back that I had plenty of time to slow down. I was more worried about the guy behind me, who was surprised by me suddenly jamming on my brakes. The Chevy SUV driver had a big fright though. He did well to stop so quickly. It's not clear in the video, but I think their vehicles actually touched before the Honda took off.

Ironic that the idiotic love affair with "just in time delivery" by thousands of trucks daily, has largely relegated the sea way, to irrelevance.

Luckily he landed right beside the front door. I left that wide open when I went to fetch the broom. But I was terrified he'd already be gone when I returned with the broom. Then I wouldn't know whether he'd flown out the door, or was instead lurking hiding somewhere inside the house. Sheesh.

when I was very young my parents took us to see La Bufadora!!! Back then there wasn't anything like a fence or even a rope to prevent an accidental fall to the bottom while standing on the slippery boulders at the top. Totally terrifying for me as a child. I remember hearing my older brothers say that a small boat at the bottom was trying to rescue someone as I sat on a wet boulder in trembling fear.....OMG the nightmares

Thanks for this video! I have a prob tilting down the camera. It works in the RC but whenever i want to put the camera downward, it automatically return to original position. Did you have this problem before? How did you fix it?

One thing to watch out for when the VPS sensors disabled, nothing then prevents you from driving the drone into the ground. Normally, when landing with the sensors enabled, even though you're holding the throttle stick full down, the drone will settle gently in an auto- landing. At 5.55 in the video, with the sensors disabled, I lowered the throttle wanting to land the drone on my hand. But I was a bit surprised when it then fell like a stone!
@CompletelyNormalPhenomenon3 ай бұрын
This is very important when suspending things under the drone. It's better to tape the sensors to avoid all that nonsense.
@Zbip573 ай бұрын
The optical sensor of the VPS is only for horizontal position holding. The infrared sensors are for height measurement. If the IR sensors detect anything within 2-ft below the drone, the drone will automatically ascend up and away from that obstacle until there is at least 2-ft clearance (unless you're holding the throttle stick full down to trigger an auto-landing). If you suspend a payload within 2-ft under the drone within view of those IR sensors, the drone may respond by automatically non-stop trying to climb away from that suspended payload. In that case, hold the throttle full-down to initiate an emergency auto-landing.
@CompletelyNormalPhenomenon3 ай бұрын
both of those sensors are problematic. I think they can both trigger a situation where the drone will do either or a combination of climbing non stop (like you said) and swerving to follow/avoid the payload. I taped the sensors and it solved that problem.@@Zbip57

Thanks! In one of my earliest videos, Runaway Phantom, I very nearly lost my P1 Phantom. I think the biggest danger is to panic when something unexpected happens. It's almost always down to pilot error when one rushes to incorrect conclusions. It's very important to read everything in the manual (DJI models are all different), and then go out and do your own experiments. Choose a wide open space where you have time to react safely (not inside your living room!) in case the results aren't what you expected. :)

Why not a square fore top sail? Powerful on every point up into close reaching. But flys ahead of the top mast. With a sheet and brace on each side, to tack just swap the lead, lines being walked fore and aft easily along the side decks. Keep the flying jib for reaching and beating.
