VPS Height Sensor vs Stairs

Mavic Mini - How does the VPS height measurement affect the behaviour of the drone? It doesn't at all, other than for Landing Protection.

No idea. My Phantom3Pro has ultrasonic height sensors, rather than infrared. The display on its DJI Go app simultaneously shows BOTH the barometric height and the VPS height (when within range). That's sometimes really useful because the barometric height is only referenced to the zero height of the power-up location. If you're flying up/down a hillside slope you'd never know your actual height above ground, unless it's being *displayed* by the indicated VPS height. But the Phantom doesn't even include that annoying Landing Protection feature, so it never actually DOES anything at all with the input from the VPS height sensors. The Mini uses DJI's Fly app, which doesn't display the VPS height at all. It is being recorded in the flight log data, so it's there for later analysis. But evidently the flight controller DOES nothing with it during flight. If I'm wrong about that, I'd love for someone to explain it to me.
