So, after the virus status - Carlos watches over her til she wakes up and he finds out she was infected and she passes out again - i always took it as she was out for awhile and he didn't know, then the cure took a few days as her body fought it off

You’d be surprised what combat fatigue can do to even the most experienced soldiers. The time between re0s ending and re1 is maybe 10 hours. That’s nowhere near enough time for someone (especially an 18 year old rookie) to recover from the kind of insanity she just went through, not to mention she had to hike her way from the mountains down to the mansion in a valley full of Cerberus, no sleep, and no food or water. I think Rebecca has a solid excuse for being in a weakened state in re1.

1:17:45 pushing crates was a prevelant occurrence in early 3d gaming. It was pretty novel at the time to be able to interact with the environment like that. If they were going to modernize it like half-life 2 did vs HL1 by putting a new spin on the floating bridge puzzle that would be cool. But either way. It would be weirder to just remove that obstacle entirely.

Steve in Darkside Chronicles is ridiculously a better character to the point it is essentially a different character. Seriously, all the weird traits from Code Veronica are gone in Darkside Chronicles like Capcom wants you to forgot what Steve was actually like in Code Veronica.

I am surprised you didn't mention that the music in this game is stellar... it uses leitmotif well and the Alexa Phase 1 and 2 boss fight themes are personally one of the best in the series.

I'm not done with this video, but, from a raw maker's perspective - putting in video clips from other youtubers - properly sourced as well - to show viewers when game design breaks down is excellent work. Shows its not just you. Don't think I've seen that in game retrospectives. Good work

I genuinely think if you got rid of the scorpion section, which includes the random separation of characters - the train segment would be almost perfect from a pacing perspective. But, wouldn't it make more sense for there to not be a Billy? Why not have Rebecca and another bravo team member? Richard maybe, so when he dies in 1 it means more? Forest so that when you find his body, it's sad? Billy adds nothing. It could've been a good way of adding context to the team before they die. There's terrible game design choices, too, but this game is a failure at every level. But, if they wanted to impress me, have the train sequence just be with Rebecca playable and one or two other stars guys. Then, end it with the crash and a trip into the woods. Have them appear at the mansion and it was all just the intro sequence to RE 1 remake and have RE 1 go as normal. Still, despite how bad the game is, the phrase "we'll see which one of us is gonna die!" Is still something I quote when gaming

Great video, but I just wanted to respectfully let you know your pronunciation of epitome is completely incorrect. Not being a grammar monster or anything, honestly just respectfully letting you know as I always wish someone would let me know if I'm totally off base on a pronunciation, and hey pronouncing things correctly lends more credibility to an already stellar retrospective.

The story is better if you think about the idea that MAYBE Rebecca Chambers was working for wesker. He admired the young recruit, he had creepy pics of her in his desk. She came up with the idea of blowing up all of the evidence. Barry assumed wesker activated the self destruct but no, Rebecca. Re zero remaster has wesker mode, where Rebecca is his little mini valentine servant, easily a nod to the whole thing. Bravo team's chopper was obviously sabotaged but never once does Rebecca look into this in re zero. Neither did the rest of the team, but they probably wouldn't ever suspect the rookie anyways. Rebecca was Wesker's little accomplice

For me, RE3 represents the explosion of the franchise. 1 was well received, 2 was phenomenal. By the time 3 was nearing completion snd release, we also had a port of re2 coming to the n64, we had the (layer canceled) gbc port of re1, code Veronica was nearing completion on the dreamcast which most of us kids would not soon be lucky to get between the price(kids not working adults) and the fact the console sold out so soon. We also had the "Romero resident evil movie" in pre production. And yet here, on the ps1 we alrrady had, we were getting another game assuring Jill Valentine, s game woth reworked mechanics, randomization, choices, and a stalker enemy, while also having a finality feeling to it in the promo arts. This game was ay the center of the explosion of RE as a franchise, and I really miss that time period in this series

Also the reason claire got caught was because her gun was clearly empty and the slide was back. So she knew she was caught. Sorry ill stop. Also re3 is much better then CVX but CVX still brings back the good survival horror. Well except for the abundance of ammo again

I love that they kept the cheesy action movie repeat shot thing when you kill the Tyrant with the rocket launcher. It's classic. Also, I tried the alternate controls when I first played the HD Remaster on Steam. It was terrible. The original version of RE2 was my introduction to the series, so tank controls were already part of my repertoire and it was nice to get back to them after so long away.
