It's interesting to think that when digital photography first became commercially available, press photographers were using equipment with just 2mp. Even magazine quality images were captured with similar gear.
@key2adventure
@key2adventure 11 сағат бұрын
That's true, but when you look at double spread images in older magazines, it definitely is visible, that the resolution is low.

Thanks. I can understand that your decision is difficult. I also like the Fuji GFX, but the design and style of Hasselblad inspires me much more, so I chose to go that way. I think in the end you'll be happy with any of those. I don't know anything about the Leica.

It has 24mp sharp evf ibis, good af 10fps and 1080p60 in 2011? How was that even possible? If you told me that this was brand new model i would belive you. Those are modern specs. And it was not even high end Sony camera at the time 😂. What the hell happened to the camera industry in last 12 years?😅 This is not much less then zve10 or a6x00. You dont even get ibis in most apsc cameras now days.

Thanks for sharing this valuable information. Maybe you can answer the following: Is it posible to upgrade Hasselblad HC to a higher firmware version? Is Phocus reading the metadata of the lens and correct the aberrations and light fall of? I will appreciate if you can throw some light on it. Kind regards
@key2adventure
@key2adventure 4 күн бұрын
It is possible to upgrade firmware but only to some extent. Older HC glass cannot be updated to provide autofocus, HCD lenses can always be updated to AF. I don't know about correcting aberrations and light fall of, as I don't much in post, but the metadata are read correctly.

Hi - thanks, the videos are great. I got the TCX-01 yesterday and was able to take photos on my X2D through a 24-105 Canon lens (with massive vignetting!) but no autofocus or anything beyond simple manual focus. I also tried a Sigma 150-600 lens which was like carrying a rocket launcher it was so heavy. I don't know how much a rocket launcher weighs. Same result. It worked but no autofocus. So I upgraded the firmware using your video - it worked fine, a new MacBook Pro and a little USB-C to mini USB cable from Faster (on Amazon). I updated to version 8 and it's bricked my lenses for the X2D with a "lens initializing" message that won't clear up. I downgraded to version 7 but same result. Reading through comments - I'm okay with going back to whatever original settings with only manual focus - but what version did the mount ship with? I've also tried a Sigma 100-400 lens and same thing.

Sounds very strange. I haven't experienced this behaviour from my lenses. Are you sure you let the upgrade finish. It is a bit difficult to see, what it is actually doing? Maybe try downgrading one version at the time, version 6, 5, 4 ... until it might work again.

Most old digital cameras with smaller sensor than 1/1.7" are not worth to use today, unless you do want bad image quality. The best old cameras with sensor size from 1/1.7 and larger can be good, if you use a software to get more resolution of the image, then the image can look very good, but is it worth the effort !?

I have a F100, and about 30 other Nikon bodies in my collection, but to be honest I don’t really like it. Firstly, it is too big and heavy for me, I like something like the little FG better. Then there is the front control dial to set the aperture, I find it difficult to turn it seems quite stiff, and I find I have to press quite hard on it to get it to turn; much prefer an aperture ring on the lens. Despite the camera not being. Very old, it is one of the newest in my collection, the backlight on the LCD display on top of the camera has faded, and is now very dim. The manual for the camera does warn that this will happen and says that it can be replaced by Nikon, but I doubt that replacements are available now. The same problem affects the F90x. I have very poor eyesight now, type 2 diabetes related, and I find the viewfinder display almost impossible to read, and sometimes even to see at all; meter needle or LED is better for me. At least the camera will meter with manual focus lenses, which many of the auto focus cameras will not. Also, the camera cannot use I modified pre-ai lenses at all.

The HUGE elephant in the room is of course that there is something called Post... and with a good program you can tweak ANYTHING...Almost no pro will just use the images right off the negative. so honestly, your 25MP digital camera pics can be made to look like a 100MP X2D and the Rollei 3.5 pics can look just like the 2.8. Just tellin the truth.
@key2adventure
@key2adventure Ай бұрын
To some extent that is true. I am making huge images for an exhibition at the moment, and I can surely tell the difference between my cameras on these wall sized prints. But posted to social media or on a website, there is not much difference except for the color depth and dynamic range. When that is lacking, there is no way to save the images in post.

I am a sucker for these old cameras. Do you think that I should buy it? I have a Nikon D3200 and a Fuji X-A10. Mainly use them for Street Photography, potrait, and indoor conventions. Both D3200 and X-A10 are not really good at low lit conventions in my opinion. Can the a65 make up for it? Thanks!
@key2adventure
@key2adventure Ай бұрын
For the best performance in low light situations, I think full frame is always the way to go. And when you have Nikon already, why not go for a Nikon Full Frame. Yes the a65 is decent also in low light, but a camera like the Nikon D810 is much better on that arena. I know it is somewhat more expensive, but then you might have lenses for your D3200, you might even have FX lenses (full frame), and then you'll save on lenses instead of buying in to a whole new camera system. I love my A65, but for the type of shooting you do, I guess you're better of with something else.
@imbecilexv7766

@@key2adventure I do not want to go Nikon full frame because the price are ridiculously expensive in my country since Nikon left and stop manufacturing here. You're right about me having lenses for the D3200 tho haha, it was my beloved camera (cause I earned my first paycheck with it and still uses it for client who wants a cheaper cost) . I keep rewarding it with a new lens. It is now running fine at ±250,000 actuations. Maybe I'll sell some of my rarely used lens and save up for a better system while keep trying to maximize the potential of the D3200. Thanks for the input!
