The Hummingbird sounds great, I have to admit. But I don't like the pickguard. It's a bit difficult for me. I would actually like to have the 00-size but the Hummingbird inlays and head stock look soo good :)

One thing I’ve learned is that a plexi/1987 circuit can approach a JCM800 with a pre PI MV. In a similar vein, if the JCM800 had the master volume dimed here I’m convinced it would be a lot closer to the plexi, because then the difference comes down to just the cold clipper and the cascaded gain stage.

Hey Blake! This sounds killer! Are you using IRs here or speakers/mics? That's the most difference I've heard an 800 and Plexi I've heard online ever. Makes me wanna pick up a Plexi as well!

Whoever is the owner of that head , Man!.you got a good one ...believe me they dont all sound like that one ..maybe ? some truth with what said about horzizontal input models versus.vertical input ones.??? My friend has a studio ,and when he went looking for a 800, I would demo them for him. We tried many and found one at Sam Ash used of course.. Lesson here, if you find one ( Keep it) ..

Blake, your vid popped up in my feed again today, and i am here to re-witness the greatness of 3:24. the way your camera shudders when you hit it hard there is magic. yours still stands as one of the best, if not best attempt at groking that tone on the SC.

Usually rock guitarists tend to underappreciate Blackface and Silverface amps because some had crappy sounding speakers that buried the mids and instead gave annoying icepicky high mids and highs, but if you put them good speakers, you will have a beautiful, balanced tone, especially with humbuckers and p90s.

I never understood the big deal about these amps. I would take a Marshall any day over one of these. The dynamics seem to get lost with all that distortion but I know some guys love that. Great playing though.

This video is the best comparison I've ever seen. At the moment I'm deciding between the two guitars. I found 2 people selling these guitars at a reasonable price! The hummingbird (like you said) a wider sound, but I also like the more woody sound of the J-45. but I'm really torn!
