I have a Dewalt DG6000 and im pretty sure it needs new capacitors, there's 2 capacitors. Problem is they are discontinued. They are 20UF, 350WV AC, 50/60, can i replace them with a capacitor that is 350V AC, 20uf, but is not for a generator or just one big capacitor instead of 2 or do you know how I can find replacement capacitors? Thank you

Outstanding!! I fried my capacitor by load testing a DEK 8000w (GXi Outdoor Power, LLC). Just tried and got 3.33vac-3.35vac. Problem is finding the exact replacement capacitor. This gen is the same as the Stanley G8000S as determined by visual and part numbers. The original capacitor was a Jiekeda capacitor cbb61 E212600 45 uf +/- 5% 450 vac 50/60 htz

@Generatorguru25 күн бұрын
Capacitors often read fine on a multimeter due to the low voltage, but when a high load is put on and they heat up, they fail. 4v is a good output so the next step it to change the capacitor. generatorguru.com/capacitors/

I have a Champion 4650 generator that has a vibration problem since day 1. It has gotten better over time, but the handle still shakes while it is running. I've seen videos of this generator on KZbin, and they don't seem to have that problem. My question is, will adjusting the valve clearances on the generator eliminate the vibrations, or is it another issue? I have check the valve clearances, and it is within specs, 0.004".

Yes it should, but also check your engine mounts have not degraded as this also presents like this. If you would like us to check the clearances are correct, or have an engineer help you further, pls contact our Engineers on generatorguru.com/need-help/

For future reference - We publish all setting under our valves listings on our website (Or in some cases under Cylinder head parts). Intake: 0.006" +/-0.002 (0.15mm +/-0.05) Exhaust: 0.006" +/-0.002 (0.15mm +/-0.05) (Try the smallest setting first. If still not running right, change clearance to 0.008".)

So if I’m getting 1.8 volt on my L1 then I’m in need of new windings? If I’m understanding that correctly. Btw I’m getting 9 volts on my brushes.
@Generatorguru5 ай бұрын
That does not sound good on the Rotor. Should be 5vac! It indicates your rotor has failed. The best bet now is to see if your local "Motor rewind" company can replace the components in the Rotor for you. You will then most likely need a new AVR as that high voltage will have damaged the original. Hope this helps!
@robfinch15226 ай бұрын
The Rotor is on the inside and ROTATES. The Stator is not on the inside but on the OUTSIDE and remains STATIONARY, hence the names.

I am very much curious, how much resistance reading is expected across the slip rings of the rotor, and does it vary, depending on the power rating of the generator? Very informative video by the way, thanks for the clear demonstration.
@Generatorguru7 ай бұрын
Thanks!! Resistance varies from generator to generator, and not all generator companies publish them. Hence needing a better way to test the alternators, and we came up with this! It is called the "Beagley Alternator Testing Technique" and was invented by our company founder many many years ago! :)

Is there any way to tell which wire is positive on a brushless gen when installing new capacitor.
@Generatorguru8 ай бұрын
No sorry. If it does not work one way you will need to change the wires. See this video on capacitor discharge instructions:kzbin.info/www/bejne/boqziWSdj6ysgMk Disconnect it CAREFULLY as the capacitor could be holding a charge!!! Next... Hook the wires up the other way. It should then produce power. If it doesn't please contact our engineers on our website and they will guide you through the next step. :) www.generatorguru.com

@@Generatorguru Thanks. I also wanted to ask about my surge power. My generator used to surge when I would plug in something big like a 5000 ac unit. But after storage and replacing the carb and capacitor it won't surge anymore. It still reads 115 volts but boggs on anything big. It's a 2000 surge 1500 continuous. It has almost no hours but was stored a long time.
