Funnily enough, I bought a couple of Squier offsets recently, just to see what they were like. Even with 'regular' 10-46 round wounds, Fender 25.5" scale lengths as well, I can get a pretty good 'traditional' type 'Jazzy' tone with the Rhythm switch on and the Tone backed off. I'd Still like to try the Flat-Wound experience though, both for Sound and Feel. I have a couple of semi-hollows but I don't want to mess with their setups by putting heavier gauge strings on them. For mounting something like Thomastik JS112s, I'm trying to decide whether to get an 'affordable' Jazz Box or an open sounding semi-hollow like the Gretsch G2622 (centre block 'weight relieved').

Has anyone ever watched Les Paul play? Seems every jazz guitar player with the 175 mindset needs an education. I noticed one commenter wrote about "Les Paul invented the Les Paul hence a Jazz guitar." I have played Jazz on a Gibson Sunburst V..."The V" people were shocked at the sound...why? It's the player as much as the guitar. Kudos to you for playing what you Love..

1) Rent is too darn high even for Sam Ash. 2) Corporate take over of Sam Ash, no longer family owned. 3) guitars have gotten so good at all price points that you can buy them on line and be probably be happy with it.

I saw him play in duet with Grégoire Maret- a Toots Thielman tribute. He really did play so relaxed I couldn't believe it. The only problem with his book is that Kenny was a child prodigy and I am not sure he struggles like most of us.

Years ago I sold my beloved SG and Princeton Reverb to a friend with the "deal" that I could buy it back when I wanted to.Big Mistake. LOL. After not seeing him for a decade he shows up at my door wanted to sell it back in a panic. And I was very happy about it. The other way to sell is a commission. Yes, you lose 30% but no photographing the instrument, shipping hassles etc... And its out of the house with a surprise check later.

Beautiful guitar, beautiful tone and playing Sir. I am going after a Nash tele with lollar pickups soon. I hope I get a similar sound. Question -- I play an Epi 335 currently, will scale length be a big adjustment to the Fender scale length?

No question! Probably a Lollar BS pickup in the bridge position, just like Tim’s. I have the same guitar as a custom Warmoth build. Sounds just like an archtop with a humbucker built into the top; great for channeling your inner Ted Greene, Ed Bickert or Lorne Lofsky(plus Tim Lerch, of course)!

Minor7thb5 This particular gauge of strings was also designed for Musicians who have either an injury, lack of mobility, or lack of dexterity in their fretting hand who want to play Flatwound strings but can use the lightest gauge.
