Ive never quite understood the space chords. The trouble is that alot of high schools are doing these tuning warm- ups without really realizing what they do and how they work. Band directors, especially young ones, have to be more original and quit copying other genres.

In my schools marching band the brass techs are making a drop the hammer warm up but instead using chords from our show that we are doing

The purpose of space chords is to get the unison tuning b-flat (or whatever chord you’re tuning) out of your ear. Then, when you go back to the note or chord you’re tuning, the goal is to lock in tune right away. Maybe you should learn the pedagogy before you start talking bad about band directors?

I think the brass better get those opening triplets a little more together rhythm wise. Boston doesn't seem to have any ensemble issues when playing fast passages.

I don’t think bloo is the cleanest by any means, but they’re definitely out designing the other big hitting corps. It’ll be a close one between Bloo and Boston. Maybe I tie?

hey do you still want to march? The corp I am in is still needing one more bari-euph. You will be most likely the best there one there. I am marching with the Boise Gems. They are the cheapest corp(hence why I am in it) and it is only 550$ for the season.

Was there double tonguing included in your audition?

No. In the Carolina crown audition it was highly recommended, but not required. For Bluecoats double tonging was not apart of the bari/Euph audition, but I think it may have been in the trumpet audition. It’s definitely recommended for the “wow factor” to do double tonging IF and only if you can do it well.

Do it!!! It will not prevent you from getting into a corps. I did drum corps for 3 years not knowing how double tongue. If you need help learning how to double tongue let me know. I can reach out and give you some tips!!! But definitely go out for a corps. There’s still time this year for some open class and all age corps!!!
