Black and Decker is a rubbish brand - I have a GK1635T model - I needed a huge spanner to undo the chain tightening screw. The manual was completely useless - not a single sentence in it. Obviously put together by idiots.

Just come back here to say a massive thanks for taking the time to create and share this video, especially as you're UK based and my toilet is exactly the same. I've been putting this repair job off for several weeks and lucky your video is one of the first I came across this morning, a quick visit to Screwfix and it's fixed. Worth saying, my washer didn't have a tear, it had just warn out over time around the edges, it would have been impossible to know the washer was the issue by just looking.
