This video was fantastic. I ordered the replacement piece from Syntaur since I couldn't print my own, and it works GREAT. Now I have 5 more keys to fix and I can tell more are going to go. What a terrible original design from Roland.

Nice video! So, if I wanted a 2 button footswitch with two independent connections for a Marshall DSL amp (one for channel switching and one for the reverb on/off), I would simply repeat this is a biiger box correct? And if we wanted to add an LED for both switches?

The best acoustic guitar amplification system is the k&k pure mini or the k&k western both has a sound similar to a microphone

I prefer the sound of the tape plugin. The actual tape did something strange to the mix. The bass doesn't sound right. From my experience, though, the cool thing about the tape plugins is that you can tweak the bias and EQ, and select four tapes speeds and tape types until you get exactly the sound you want.

I used to salvage console TV/Stereo components and build cabs for them as needed. it started as speaker salvage and went further to the electrinice that were still good in those very large cabinets that housed record changer, receiver, tape deck and other various components.. faulte were usually simple to fix. blown fuses or broken wire or solder joint were th usual problems. or the owner wnted the newest thing... my gain...to save space in my bedroom I built small cvabs for the components to stack in rack form in the corner and speakers at opposite corners to either side.. nearly free system from Trash to treasure.. fuses are cheap and wood for cabs from comsoles worked just fine... I built bicycles the same way get some broke ones and fix up one really good one from those. tubes an tires were the only new parts...paint and the rest were salvaged from all over my neighborhood. ...the stereo equipment cost nothing but time and a little labor building cabs. nearly free system that sounded beter than the neighbors and cost next to nothing...only friends and fmily knew how i got it.I still cut costs as much as I can....I can go to a thrift store to find good stereo at low prices. and some they don'tmake anymore.. VCR. 8-Track and so forth..

1 Corinthians 15:23-26 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

I had the head and cabinet of my Super Champ X2 done in birch. I was a bit worried about how the birch would affect the sound of the cabinet, but if anything it's tightened the bottom end.

I probably need to listen on headphones, but watching on tv this mic sounds less than impressive to me. I hear clear top end, but no richness or thick bottom end. As its called a T47 I was expecting the T to mean tube and the 47 for it to have some 47 characteristics. It sounds like a cheap mic to me, but maybe I need to hear it again through headphones. Would have been good if you had got a bit closer to the mic to hear the difference in proximity effect. 👍

Man. Maybe I'm getting frequency twisted. After reading other replies, I really ramped it up heavily on the console I played this through again. Daaaannnggg. How ANYONE can't see/hear the far superior tonal balance in the K and K. And just add, all eight other musicians here in the studio also said, in near unison, when they heard A vs B said, I and K the instant they heard it. And that the K and K blew it away. And then if course LAUGHED !!!! Thanks for helping not waste $50 along with the time it would have taken to install the Journey, uninstall it, and install the K and K Pure mini. I'd have been better off with a Tonewood gadget. And they are JJUUUUNNNKKK.

Huh? I recognized the K and K IMMEDIATELY. ALL the Journey did was squawk. The K and K blew it AWAY in tonal balance. And trust me when I say I've the studio to listen in EXTREMELY high fidelity. I did like the mic quite well. I'm finicky about pickups and mics. All to say. I was considering trying a Journey for a brand new guitar I just bought. I appreciate the testing and video. But I kinda figured trying to save a few bucks and trying a Journey was a BAD idea. K and K, here I come again for the 12th time.

Probably cheaper to just buy one. If you make lots of pickups then probably worth it but results may vary.

Very good video, fun and informative. I have a few guitars with under saddle piezo’s and onboard preamps. Do you think it’s possible to plug the Journey (that I liked best) into such a preamp? The sound might benefit plus you would have more control and a tuner.

Hi from Spain, I thought your presentation was excellent. I had no idea which was which, I thought your fingerpicking style was great and made all three sound really good. I was tempted to replay and I think from a practical point of view playing live with vocals, "C" with just a mic. at the fretboard is not possible, but for recording I would always use two mic's. For playing live I thought "A" sounded as close to the natural sound of your fantastic guitar. I wonder if the 3 pickups on the Journey could be increased to 6 smaller ones precisely located, picking up the vibration of each individual string, and would that improve it further? Great and very professional video, John.

How did you secure the bridge? or is it pressed by the strings and removed when you loosen the pegs? I repair guitars, but I want to try to make them myself. There is a video for inspiration. greetings from Russia 🇷🇺

It is basically just held by the string pressure but I added very very tiny dab of glue to keep it from getting bumped especially during string changes.
