Elite Dangerous - the best game that relies on expensive peripherals, several web sites and third-party applications, and hours of KZbin tutorials to grind crafting materials to improve your ship. Nice video, Cmdr. o7 Side question - do you notice HGE targets falling off your nav panel after you first target them and then target something else? I was grabbing some mats earlier this week and I'd target to see how much time was left on a signal, switch to another HGE and wouldn't be able to find the first one any more.

Fun Fact: Although SRVs have a Hull Mass stated it's never included into Jump Range Calculations as far as I am aware off. Which means you get identical jump ranges, the game doesn't care whether you back a Scarab or Scorpion into your Planetary Vehicle Hangar.
@AtlasRandGaming3 күн бұрын
@@shadowmystery5613 that is true! However their mass makes a big difference when using their jump jets.
@shadowmystery56133 күн бұрын
@AtlasRandGaming Oh I didn't know that, but I am enough of a Seasoned explorer that it actually never mattered to me. I prefer the Scarab SRV anyway because it's metal detector comes in quite handy if I'd ever need to restock Materials for Limpets or AFMU refills. The Scarab is also driving much faster although it's less durable than the Scorpion but if you know what you're doing the Scarab is also quite durable. I personally *tested* that by accidentally falling or rather rolling from a tall mountain while looking for Fungoida high up 😂

@ you can also collect materials for limpets from mining asteroids. Which is why all my exploration ships have a mining laser mounted.
@shadowmystery56133 күн бұрын
@@AtlasRandGaming As somebody who did both I can confidently tell you that looking for Meteorites on planets you're gonna land on anyway yields more material than trying to Laser Mine a rock. Nickel, Carbon and Iron are extremely abundant on planetary surfaces in case of an emergency restock. Which doesn't mean I have to restock because I need the material for a recent emergency, I restock after I repaired - I basically carry always a full supply to feel safe. But I gotta look into bringing a Mining Laser if it's not cutting too much into jump range - I don't own a Carrier yet because I swore to only get one if I come close to become Combat Elite 😂

You need separate overlay software. The software to use depends on what headset you have, and what VR engine you use (OculusVR, SteamVR or OpenXR). quick small tips on flying to a station - 1) flying out of the plane of the ecliptic, i.e put the target at the top of your visible range and then arch around to it, you'll eliminate almost all cases of needing to getting blocked by the planet. 2) Also if you don't have an SCO drive so supercruise overdrive is not available, getting out of the plane of the ecliptic can allow a higher max velocity, helps with longer trips. the overdrive kind of makes that an obsolete approach though for some math-y reason involving the combined gravitational fields of the objects. 3) if you approach too quickly, instead of looping around the station, make a loop going AWAY from the station. 1 loop like that and you'll be pointed back at the station, whereas looping around the station has you going in a spiral that will take longer to complete.
@AtlasRandGaming6 күн бұрын
@@markadowdy 1yes, 2 yes, 3 no… in warp, mathematically the amount of time for spiral or straight path at 0 throttle is the same. The advantage of spiral is you don’t need to estimate the midpoint at which to change direction back. Out of warp you would be correct but in warp your vectors don’t cancel.

but is using DSS even worth it? The amount of time it takes to get to a planet vs just jump to a new system and FSS all of it...
@AtlasRandGaming6 күн бұрын
@@benniebees I FSS faster normally than I do in videos because I don’t need to explain. DSS can get 20-100% depending on how many moons/planets so the larger the system the more DSS per jump… but in smaller system you are faster using FSS because DSS only gets you 1-2 planets.
@benniebees5 күн бұрын
@@AtlasRandGaming yyeah but, even in a large system, you roughly spend linear time to DSS N planets. In that time you could have scored more by just jumping to a new system and hitting more FSSs. I'm asking about the time investment into doing a DSS being worth it. And it takes a LOT of time to go to a planet to DSS it compared to FSS and go next system. Im referring specifically to the CG scoring contribution of FSS and DSS
@eqhymay4 күн бұрын
Depends what you are going for. For pure numbers of reports to give to the CG, you can easily jump and FSS a whole new system in the time it takes to probulate a single planet or 2. Probing a rocky, icy, or non terraformable metal body is nearly worthless creditwise, and timewise. (under 10k I think) IF you are concerned with cash, then probing earthlike, waterworlds, ammonia, and "Terraformable" metal rich or rockies. (also any elw, or ww that are terraformable are the MOST worthwhile to probe) These are worth 300-600k each. Road to riches can give you a path to the honeypots, and you will pick up FSS scans of icy/rocky/metals along the way when you do each system.
@benniebees4 күн бұрын
@ Yeah, just CG scoring is what I meant. I think my policy of FSS and go next was probably the most efficient one. I did land to pick up stratums. Also DSSed high value bodies for exploration rank. (using EDObservatory with bioinstights).
