A guy named Tom Petty had not yet given us. Damn the Torpedoes. Leon had something to do with Tom’s contract or Tom’s rights to his own music at that time. I apologize if I have some of this, not as accurate as it could be, Tom just couldn’t get to the next step to make his band as successful as we knew it to be Leon had Tom over to his house in Beverly Hills and Tom sat down they talked for a few minutes. There was a room. There was a doorbell ringing the doorbell goes to the door, and George Harrison Ringo Starr sat down with Petty Says I got some things to do in the back room. These three dudes petty Harrison star talked for 3 1/2 hours at the end what it came down to was Tom he got 19 people in your caravan depended on you for everything and you’re worried about youuntil you take care of the people that are taking care of you. You’re not gonna go anywhere and then they left and all this success that Tom was about was because Leon saw the potential law before the torpedoes. That was the only thing I knew about before watching this. Hope you enjoyed.❤

Bravo!!! Just goes to show that the rewards and acknowledgment will come. They may not come when we expect it, but they will come. We all can take a page out of Leons' book and be humble as this man. Thank you for the music❤

Congrats to Leon Russell Well Deserved! & here's an Elton John Funny Not to take away from Leon As on Aug 30 2002 is what my Working Stage Hand Pass says When I worked my 1 & only Elton John Concert in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada I was soo very excited! When I heard that Elton John was coming to Saskatoon Canada For a couple of good reasons But!! Cause Elton came w out his band! I was not! A very happy a camper! So that evening I didn't get to work As a Local Working Stage Hand & or as the Local Working Drum Tech As I really wanted to help w Nigel Olsson's drum set & the show of course! But! Sir Elton John came w out his band & So at the end of working The IN As soon as I was done w polishing Elton's Piano I was the last to leave At least I was suppose to! Just like the rest of my Local Crew had to! But I was not very happy So I stayed behind & made my presence known! As I watched the whole Sound Check & then I rode my chopper home & when I came back I came way way late! As there was no opening act So no Show Call! So now I'm extremely late & I'm on the Stage Left side on the stage's floor w my Roadie & my Roadie says Perfecting timing Ross! As the concert started late! & you only missed 1 song & earlier in the day Working The IN my Roadie told me That if I'm w him side stage That Elton will see us both So please clap & smile After each song As he knew That I was not happy! All day long! I was sad & a lil pissy! Ok a whole lot pissy! So after arriving late on purpose My Roadie kept nudging me & he kept asking For me to smile & maybe clap! But I was having None of that nonsense! & after every song I'd get nudged by my Roadie again & again & he constantly asked For me to at least smile & maybe clap as well Maybe even whistle But! I was not a happy camper! So no smiles! No clapping! & definately no whistling + I came way late! & on purpose & by the way It was A Great Concert! I can not lie It was! So my Roadie kept reminding me That Elton will see me not smiling So please Ross! Please smile at least But I did none of that! So the show ends & Elton John walked off stage & disappeared! But really Sir Elton John waited behind a long tall backstage drape & when he felt it was an appropriate time Is when Elton came out from behind that drape & from a fair ways a way! Elton was on a mission! To have a lil fun w me & only w me! As it turned out So Elton threw at me! A Bright Pink Bendable Wrist Band!!! & I immediately threw it right back! With my cat like reflexes! No word a lie! I caught it & I immediately! Threw it Right back at Sir Elton John! As I do not do Pink!!! & when I immediately threw it back! You should have seen the look! On my Roadie's face! + 2 other Roadies! Their looks! Were Priceless! & w that Elton went back behind that drape yet again! & then When he came back out & he threw a Bright Lime Green Bendable Wrist Band at me & I caught it! & I thanked Elton & then I immediately passed it To a security guard To hold for me & I went back to work Working The OUT & w that I have to say Sir Elton John! Does have a great sense of humor As he actually made me smile! As on that very day He had a kinder heart! Than I! & he did make me smile! When I told my Roadie! That I was smiling for nothing! But I did! & if you look at my KZbin Channel - Ole Rosssillly Drum Covers - You'll see That I made a couple drumming attempt covers To honor in my own way Sir Elton John As bad as my drumming attempts are It's my way To honor Sir Elton John - ML&RAlways 💯%🎯😁😇 & my KZbin Channel is Ole Rosssillly Drum Covers

Fantastic. The first album i bought and played on a mono pick up was mad dogs and englishmen, that was 55 years ago!!! Bought the cd about 20 years ago. Recently, on my 67 birthday!!!, I found and bought the original doublerecord with the best albumsleeve ever in a dumpstore for 5 euros. Best birthdaypresent ever. Two great musicians btw, Your song by Elton, while never being a big Elton fan, one of my fav lovesongs of all time.... great footage

Leon plays a big role in the early rock culture in the US. Whether it was letting musicians crash at his place, helping musicians with their sound, playing on recordings, producing tracks and writing himself, he remained himself.

Only takes one note from Leon's lips to know who's singing. So many songs I've enjoyed and never realized He had written. Today so many singers sound alike, but Leon's was a stand alone. Times were good, and wine was sweet, I couldn't see cause the weed was deep.

Leon told a story of how George Harrison would have him do like a hundred takes to the point he wasn’t sure if Harrison wanted something different or just a better performance. He got so frustrated he finally queued up the tape and played it for Harrison. George was like, that’s great where’d that come from and Leon said “it was the first take!”

Leon was one of the most under rated and totally underappreciated musicians of our time, and this induction should have happened a hell of long time ago!! Thank you to Sir Elton John for his splendid story about Leon-who's music has filled my life with memories. God Bless Leon RIP, thanks for the music!!

My dad would play Leon's tape for me and my sister when he would visit every other week. Also, George Benson, Loggins and Messina, SRV, Joplin and Cat Stevens. That was it. His full tape collection he would bring to see us. All legendary artists. This was in like '77-'84 time period. Leon Russell would get him weeping. Not sure why but Dad has an emotional connection to music I haven't seen in it's depth in others. Anyway. Now I'm gonna spend the day listening to Leon.
