I still listen to those old newscasts on KZbin when I need a laugh. "A tisket, a tasket, a body in a basket", "Strained through the grille of a Buick" and of course the infamous Louisville Slugger murder story. Cringey but entertaining

Been a fan of radio forever. And it's good to know I'm not the only one who noticed the same things. The downfall of terrestial radio for me was it seemed like you could drive from Portland Maine to Portland Oregon, and every town had a KISS FM with a playlist "thislong". Radio was better before the CLEAR CHANNEL'S and the CUMULUS' took over. Just one man's opinion. Thanks for another entertaining video.

Larry Sharpe is the guy's name. He's run on the Libertarian ticket for the governor of New York and the vice presidency of the U.S. It's an interesting scenario and one that's always discussed whenever a third party is involved. But in reality as long as there's that antiquated contraption called The Electoral College, a third party doesn't stand a chance. It's a constitutional shield made to protect the two main parties, and to deprive the electorate of it's power. Our founding fathers figured too much democracy was a bad idea. Oh well, just one man's two cents. Enjoy your channel, and the stories from the days of CK. Keep 'em coming.

"A" for fun stuff effort - i wish i had a medal to give all RFK supporters. F for facts. RFK is going to have to stick to leaving dead bears in central park. Americans turning to politics that is well reasoned - 0 chance. This video underlines that fact. At some point you'll have to stop hoping a rich guy can save you and make it so everyone plays nice. RFK has probably already tried to sell his support off to Kamala for a position in the administration if she wins. The wealthy, especially RFK, don't give a shyt about you or their country - in between falconry outings. Stop hoping for miracles and saviors. "Oh mommie, everyone is fighting - I just want everyone to be nice". Either do the hard work of discerning facts or be a good little consumer, close your eyes to the rip off, turn your head from justice, lick boots when you're told to ... And sing a song about the land of the brave then give yourself a huggy.

I'm in the "add on" camp Pat. LOVE watching the radio stuff but ALSO, and I was just talking with Ted about this today, just LOVE your Facebook posts and the discussions that result from your really interesting and thought provoking posts. Would love to see the video version of that on KZbin and I would hate to see the radio stuff disappear. But the thought provoking topics you find would be very cool to see in video form
@MusicomAcademy
@MusicomAcademy Ай бұрын
Thanks Terry. I've wanted to do this stuff for a long while but I know there'll be monster blowback on some things that either enter into politics or even open a door to somehow skew it to politics. That's why I've held off. So I've been torn between that and pointing to things or conversations or ideas that I just don't think many know about, or others who simply would like hearing/seeing. So....I'm leaning to jump into the fire on this. But my wife REALLY doesn't want the aggravation to come.
@officialterrydimonte
@officialterrydimonte Ай бұрын
@@MusicomAcademy Well not ALL of your posts pertain to politics Pat and when they do and the angry folks arrive, you handle it all so well and seem to diffuse any nastiness pretty quickly and quite deftly! As seen on FB- you and John could have a show as far as I'm concerned. And it's THAT kind of intelligent to & fro that is sorely missing from any discussion today. I get the aggro part your wife doesn't relish, but I think it could be something that would garner some keen interest. I think there are a lot of folks in the middle somewhere who are longing for some graet debates that don't get personal but are spirited. Maybe I'm naive?
@MusicomAcademy
@MusicomAcademy Ай бұрын
@@officialterrydimonte I have many friends who are on the left, some VERY much so. Clearly I'm leaning right although also very liberal for almost all social stuff. Despite that I get told all the time by them that I'm one of the only people they know where we can talk politics back and forth and not get pissed off, have fun at it, and go back to eating dinner or whatever as if the conversation never happened. I guess it's because I don't mind people not agreeing with me. I just like making sure others have new info that may.....or may not, change their mind. Definitely agree with you on the 'middle'. We used to see that all the time on focus groups and research for CFRB's talk shows. People literally would complain that we didn't let the opposite side talk enough because even though they disagreed with them usually, they really wanted to know what they thought and what they knew. But...that was almost 20 years ago now. Maybe it's all changed.
@officialterrydimonte
@officialterrydimonte Ай бұрын
@@MusicomAcademy Could be. But my sense is, especially in Canada, the "middle" is where the majority of the people are. In this era, I think the fringes on both right and left are making the most noise. And as a consequence of that, it's SO refreshing to read or listen to someone measured who isn't yelling trying to widen people's knowledge about the issues. Just a guess of mine but I think that's why those FB posts resonate and here on KZbin I think it would be a unique and fun thing to watch. Just my 2 cents. I always found that when I was on the air, it was the same. You heard from the small minority of folks who were mad at ya, and the majority who tuned in all the time because they loved what you did, just kept listening. Anyway, fun watching you decide what to do! Looking forward to it either way

Dear sir, (this is a long comment ) I grew up, loving radio with everything in my soul. I worked at a small radio station in South Alabama. But every night, I would listen to John Landecker - - ‘records’ truly was his middle name. He was a genius. I’m for real brother. I remember “boogie check.”WLS. 89. Dear sir… You’re focusing on the music, and that’s wonderful. Is there a place for radio personalities anymore? If you remember, the radio personalities were the defining element of the radio station. It was not just the music. I believe there could be room for some more “personalities“ on the air. thank you for reading this. I can tell you’re concerned. This is my stance - - someone with great music and a wonderful personality could bring listeners back to the radio again. Personally, I watched with gratitude your program about the number one - fastest growing format in America was Christian music. Personally, I’ve always loved gospel music, and I worked for one of the first Christian radio stations in America that presented the music with a tight format and strong personalities. What do you think? It seems the smaller markets, where we used to learn, do nothing but re-distribute satellite programs. There’s no place to learn anymore. I would love to get your thoughts on streaming radio. You do a wonderful job. You’re a treasure trove of knowledge. Don’t give up. Radio/streaming is a powerful medium. We need talented people and personalities behind those microphones. Thank you for everything you’re doing. You’re definitely filling-a needed niche. Remember - Dr. Don Rose? Loman and Barkley? “KFI” Charlie tuna? Don Imus. Radio has just become so bland. As a program Director, and a very successful one at that, is there room for personalities anymore? Thank you.

🤔As I understand, KZbin will never remove your content unless it violates their policies ("hate speech", etc) but are known to freeze monetization after a period of no uploads. Having said that... Typically it might be advisable to start a 2nd channel; however, if there might be some unexpected "down time", it's "prolly" best to keep it all on this channel so you don't need to concern yourself with the upkeep of 2 channels. It also may appease the "algorithm gods" to bring new viewers to your earlier material as well! ✌🏻

Either way sounds good. Thanks so much for your high quality content! I have an old channel that I haven’t uploaded to in over five years and the channel is still alive and well. On another note, I actually am not in radio nor plan to be, but I really enjoy your content, especially the interviews. I think you are in a rare position as a person who is on KZbin and also has access to radio personalities that are aging and won’t always be with us. I personally would love it if you might consider going all in on this channel or another on talking with the legends while we still have them. Your channel could be a vault of history. For example, it would be incredible to hear a long Charlie Van Dyke interview. Either way, thanks so much for the wonderful content you have put up!

Yes as I think that would be a lot easier and you would already have a solid base of 1400-1500 and add to that base number. You might sure have some attrition but you also have an opportunity to widen your base and I think the worst that could happen it would be a wash but I think because how good and much you’ve served us any loss from your 1400-1500 would probably be minimal! Thanks for serving us over these years my friend! Also if you have any interviews of your friend Brother Bill Gable or Sean Casey from WOR-FM I’d love to hear them! I loved both of their air work so much and I only wish I had discovered your channel years ago my friend!!!

Thank you for this. I’ve tried, in vain, to describe what it was like to listen to The Big 8 in the 80’s. (I graduated from high school in 1975). And, Randall, you are correct; the newscasts DID keep me listening instead of pushing the button to change stations. The jocks and the newscasters always sounded like they were doing what they did for the love of their craft, not for a paycheck. To this day, I can “hear” both of you in my head as I recall listening to CKLW. Thank you both so very much for the memories.

Hi Jim, I've got a couple planned to cut in a couple weeks. But generally, I'm winding down the 'course' to one every now and then, because I've just run out of things to teach that I can do in a video. So much left are things I'd need to be with a. person and go back in forth in conversation with them. On a bright note I guess, I never thought I'd get beyond 40-50 lessons when I started and it's now somewhere around 120.
