I did the interior design of our current home to my tastes and watching this I learned that it is called the Coastal Design Style. I had no clue until I watched your video this is what we have. I never liked the nautical design. When I see the homes with the anchors, fish, and lighthouses decorations that are so commonplace, those things do not appeal to me. Stikes me as looking a bit cheesy I suppose. Not coastal currently but near Orlando. We will be moving to our new coastal home by the end of spring on the Forgotten Coast of Florida.

What are your thoughts of peel and stick wallpaper over the top of bubble gum pink bathroom wall tile. They go from the floor to hallway up the wall. Then some thought that pastel melon green was a good choice to complement the pink. 😂 So I want to paint the top half of the walls a light gray to at least tone down the room asap lol. New to me home that is MCM.

Mid century doesn't fit modern at all. More you look at it, more you see that. And yes. Having less is also cleaning less.

The 1970's Art Movement is the child of Futurism, or the International Style. This style was birthed by a Socialist inspired Art Manifesto originating in Italy. The Futurist Manifesto stated Cubism would best reflect the New Age of where the Machine would be man's inspiration for life. Western Values of Roman and Greek Democracy based on Judeo Chrisitain values symbolized through the Applied Art of Archetecture would be no more. Socialism would be the value system of man and technology it's Saint. This is the reason why Modern Archetecture changed from Columns to Cubes. The Movement spread to Germany where Hitler became enraged (as he embraced symbolism) at this new Art Form led by Walter Gropius. Gropius was the inspiration behind the Bauhaus Movement. Gropius fled to the USA and landed a job at Harvard's Archetecture School. Archetects abandoned adorning buidlings with art,, Ionic Roman Columns and other decorations and transitioned to Cubism. In the 1990's, Post Modernism made a comeback with Arches, capstones, and Columns reappearing. If your a fan of "Modernism" you may just want to go read the Futurist Manifesto. The Manifesto of Futurism (Italian: Manifesto del Futurismo) is a manifesto written by the Italian poet Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, published in 1909.

I'm renovating my home in Orkcore home design. The look is dominated by red, grey, and brown. Brown leather and natural "brown" wood. Grey concrete, grey iron, occasionally grey stained wood(I've found that Aged Barrel Mw283 is the best shade of wood stain for this). Red leather, sedona red stained wood, a bit of red trim, red painted roof. Dark ages war/hunting weapons as decorations. Hide rugs. Raw materials and recycled materials. Exposed industrial elements such as large bolts where practical. Pointiness added everywhere it can be done safely, such as pyramid tacks & pointy plants.

Green tones tend to be relevant for natural, terrestrial studies such as botany although black and white schemes tend to be relevant for astronomical studies while blue and white tends to be relevant for aquatic studies. Of course, decorations such as stickers, shells, rugs, lamps, furniture, ceiling ornaments and items further emphasize their subjects. However, such renovations may need to be reserved for specified areas for long term use.

It is true that the Midcentury Modern period brought forth a lot of stylish design icons. However, Mies van der Rohe‘s and Lily Reich’s Barcelona Chair, le Corbusier‘s and Charlotte Perriand‘s LC1, LC2, LC3 and LC4 as well as Marcel Breuer‘s Wassily Chair were not designed in this period, but significantly earlier in the Bauhaus era.

Wow. Very helpful. Thank you. We are moving into a new home and we have many family heirlooms that we have whittled down to those we love the best. Coming from baby boom excess decorating we are working toward a transitional look. I am an artist and do have a good handful of brighter art pieces including several Dalis, picassos, etc. We also have a few brass pieces. Lots of art glass, murano and actual glass art. Throw in a few bronze statues of considerable value! Sooo. We are going to give transition a try and work backwards into a more minimalism result when all is said and done. I cannot give up valuable art and antiques just because I love the true transitional vibe. Wish me luck and provide any advice? I believe in balance but my artistic side really loves a bit of wow...0y...

Two days ago I randomly thought about my mom’s set of dishes that she had when I was growing up. Last night I came across a set of 4 on a Canadian resellers Instagram & today your video featured a huge collection! I wondered how I could find them again for my mom & lo & behold, you showed the tag for “Arcoroc Octime” mugs. THANK YOU! Although I am in Seattle too, I doubt that these dishes are still available at that location.

I know this is a video from a number of years ago .. but you asked so .. here is my two francs worth. Both in Europe and Argentina [BA is called the Paris of SA] they also use herringbone wood floors .. which I prefer. It is sort of the transition style between the butt ends of "plank" flooring and the more angular ends the "chevron" floors. Also the interweave effect is somewhat more appealing to my eye. And as with chevron floors, the length of the board [pattern] can be used to influence the perceived scale of the room.

Sorry to contradict you, but Mid Century Modern Style originated in Europe between 1920 and 1930 no U.S.A. Also, most of the designers that were part of that era came from there.
