@silentjoutdoors10 күн бұрын
@huanc7996 I also car top my kayak! The motor comes off in like 1 minute or less and I do lock it in place and steer with the rudder. If you check some of my more recent videos I upgraded my rudder to the pacificyakangler rudder and it made steering so much better

@@silentjoutdoors nice will check it out. Do need a backing plate or mounted direct?
@silentjoutdoors10 күн бұрын
@huanc7996 don't need a plate, it mounts directly to the PowerPole mounting hardware. The plate from navarre just puts it more in a straight line with the kayak, I find it a little better but it's not necessary. If you buy a Newport use the code KODY752 at checkout for 10% off your entire order!

@miamiwax5504Ай бұрын
why do you need a rope for reverse?
@silentjoutdoorsАй бұрын
@miamiwax5504 The motor by design is meant to lift up if you hit something, so it's not locked in position. If you reverse and it's not lock in position it will lift up out of the water backwards. The rope is to pull and lock it so it won't lift when reversing. But I don't reverse with my motor so I didn't put that rope. Only the lift rope

@silentjoutdoorsАй бұрын
@mongo4085 ya the NK180 is an amazing motor! It pushed me about 4.6mph on max. If I run at 80% throttle I can go for hours and hours. It's very very efficient. I have used it for multiple 2 day trips without recharging and it has more than enough battery

I have a question for the motor trim that being set all the way in the water, is that the best for performance. What speed are you getting?
@silentjoutdoorsАй бұрын
@Flippencz I have messed around with it a bit but can't say 100% it's the best this way, but the little I did mess around with, I was getting the least cavitation and better speeds. My kayak is pretty fully equipped and I'm getting 8kmh on 100% so 5mph. I rarely ever run 100% though, usually 80% and I'm getting 6.5kmh

@@Flippencz no problems, but I definitely suggest starting with the lowest to second lowest and go from there. I tried the higher options and tons of cavitation and low speed.

I enjoyed your video on this load assist system. I bought this load assist system at a garage sale. Although it was never used, the round bars are 58” long not 66”. I have a 2023 Kia Sportage like yours. Do you think this system will work on my Sportage? John
@silentjoutdoorsАй бұрын
@JohnGoetze-fl5qp I think it would, definitely doesn't hurt to try! The only issue I could see is you'd have to move your front bar back kind of a lot to have the wing on the back work as it should. But if it works then it works!

@@silentjoutdoors Thanks for quickly addressing my question.
@silentjoutdoorsАй бұрын
@JohnGoetze-fl5qp my pleasure! My videos are all for helping people with things I've done or things I use. Have you had a chance to measure and see if it will fit? Hopefully it does because it's a great system. I didn't measure mine but looking at it the other day I believe I could move the cross bars back more and the 58 probably would work
@JohnGoetze-fl5qpАй бұрын
I tried to install the Showboat system on my Kia Sportage. I can’t safely move the cross bars back enough to accommodate the 58” bars. This prevents the roller from extending back to allow me to place a kayak on it without hitting the roof of the SUV. I’m going to try to sell this system. Thanks again….John
@JohnGoetze-fl5qpАй бұрын
I’m considering buying a set of 66” round bars so that I can install the Yakima Showboat system on my Kia Sportage. I want to be able to load 2 kayaks with one of the boats being placed in a set of Jaylow carriers. The Jaylow carriers would be setup on the passenger side of the SUV & they would face inward rather than outward. I’d have to load this kayak first. I’d load the second kayak face down over the driver’s side of the Kia. Do you think this would work or should I go with the Yakima boat loader EVO load assist system?

@silentjoutdoors2 ай бұрын
@LifewithLewi I'm 5'8" and can use either the 3rd or 2nd setting from the front. The first setting is way to close. I usually use the 2nd setting if I'm pedaling a bit and if I'm pedaling a lot I will use the 3rd setting to get a more full extension on my legs. This is a 120 so I can't say for the 106 dipping forward if you use the front setting but on my 120 it wouldn't dip on the front setting.
