Nice catchin, I just happen to have some of those, I got the Bluegill color also, along with the black backed like yours, and an older purple backed one, I think I might switch all my treble hooks with inlines
@AllmouthBassing26 күн бұрын
Thank you! I've caught too many bass to count on the bluegill colored one. I've had pretty good luck with all the colors I have though. They're surprisingly good jerkbaits for the price. I understand that too. Treble hooks can be a pain to deal with sometimes lol
@erinjayne514129 күн бұрын
I just picked this one up based on quite a few positive video reviews. Been fishing bass for over 30 years, most of it baitcasting and these budget baitcasters are getting better and cheaper and cheaper. It's been fun dropping a few bucks just to see how good they are. I've passed a few on to young anglers who are just starting out and building up their tackle arsenal. They're great to learn on because you've really gotta tune 'em and learn proper technique. Every one of them has been worth every penny in that regard. My only question is: what's the rush getting the fish in if you're practicing C&R? It's not just you, it's a lot of younger bass anglers. I'm not judging, you do you, I just haven't gotten an answer as to the why of it.
@AllmouthBassing27 күн бұрын
Nice, I think you'll be pretty happy with it at the price point. I'd have to agree with everything you said about budget casters also. If you haven't tried any of the lower end KastKing reels I'd highly recommend those too. As far as landing fish quickly goes, I do that for two reasons. The first being that the faster I land them, the less time they have to spit the hook. The other reason is that it might seem counterintuitive, but a shorter fight is actually better for the fish. Just like us, fish can experience exhaustion after exerting too much energy. If you wear them out with a long fight and then take them out of the water to unhook them, it creates more stress than a quick fight. Think about it like trying to hold your breath immediately after running a marathon compared to trying to hold your breath after a short run.

I received this combo as a Christmas present. Never used a baitcaster before. I'm having trouble with casting. Any tips? I am not sure if I am doing it wrong or if I ended up getting a malfunction one.
@AllmouthBassingАй бұрын
Nice! It's a great setup to start out with. I actually like mine better than some of my higher end, more expensive ones. You probably just don't have your settings dialed in right. Since you're just learning I'd recommend setting your brake dial to somewhere between 7 & 9, and you'll adjust your tensioner nob every time you change lures. For tension, tighten it just tight enough so that if you hit your spool release, your bait falls freely, but your line doesn't over-spool once the bait hits the water. If you drop your lure straight down into the water in front of you, it should slowly sink once it hits the water, but your line should stay tight on the spool, not blow out into a birds nest. Hopefully that helps!

@AllmouthBassingАй бұрын
Nice! Did you end up picking one up & if you did how are you liking it so far? I really enjoyed mine, and the only real complaint I had with it was that it's pretty slow getting around with the kick fins. As long as you're not in a real hurry to cover a ton of water though, I think they're great!
@landscaperescuewithstuartm6141Ай бұрын
@@AllmouthBassing same.. I was using my hands because the kick fins I bought where not big enough for my waders and my huge feet LOL!!! I was surprised how well made it was for the price and it felt good and easy to cast from. No room so I needed to leave most of my gear on the bank, risky. I just took out a small tackle box and a net that was manageable.
@AllmouthBassingАй бұрын
@@landscaperescuewithstuartm6141 Ahhh, that's a bummer your fins didn't fit! Some guys just use canoe/kayak paddles with them, but I've never tried that personally. For net storage, you could probably find some waterproof velcro straps & strap it straight to the tube. As far as tackle goes, I'd usually just bring a small Plano box that fit inside one of the zipper pockets for hard baits, and only bring the soft plastics I planned on using for the day & it usually worked out pretty well for me. Some guys make custom PVC platforms to extend off the side of the tube for extra storage, but that takes away from the simplicity that attracted me to a tube in the first place, so I never bothered.

Dang I bought one of these and returned it because the action looked weak. Guess I was wrong! I have the Creme micro crank baits that are even smaller that trout love, but I'm going to give this a try again. Cool video, you should try the Rapala Original floating size 3 minnow. Nice action you can feel through the line, for such a small lure it's impressive.
@AllmouthBassingАй бұрын
That was my first impression of it too, but as you could see in the video the trout seemed to really like the subtle action. Those creme micro cranks are decent, but from my experience they tend to need a bit of adjustment to track straight, or they'll do barrel rolls & twist your line up. I've moved south since I made this video & don't have freshwater trout available where I live now, but if I do any trout fishing in the future I'll probably give those Rapalas a try 👍
@thevenin2Ай бұрын
@AllmouthBassing I bought the Ozark Trail mini minnow again. At the end of the night after I didn't catch anything on other lures, I threw it in the stream and caught a nice trout on the first cast. Yeah I would give those micro crankbaits another chance. The two that I have run great. The other night on a full moon I threw one in and caught three trout in under 10 minutes. I seen some other KZbin videos, I know they work on all other fish as well.

Similar situation here! I'm still using the rod on occasion for bait fishing, but that reel got thrown in the trash once I was done making this video. If they made the reels with slightly stronger components it would be a great combo, but I guess you can't ask for too much out of a combo that costs less than $40.

@AllmouthBassing4 ай бұрын
That's surprising! Wacky rigs are a go-to for a lot of guys because of their effectiveness. For a weightless wacky rig, I'll do one or two big, slow jerks of the rod tip with about a 5 to 7 second pause in between. For a weighted wacky, it's good to do a few faster, shorter jerks of the rod tip with a 4 to 5 second pause in between. Try working along weeds, docks and laydowns.
