I used these instructions with this product and they are accurate, although I will say that taking some of the plastic pieces off, were not as easy as in the video. It took a little more work. But the instructions worked as in the video. Thanks for posting this..

I agree with most points in the video. The only thing I can't seem to understand is how are prices of these old rotary mazdas so high when stuff like the ND MX5 exists. The MX5 arguably has them outclassed in every measurable metric. Most crucially the total cost of ownership is infinitely smaller and they are super reliable while the RX mazdas have you anxious every time you drive them. Even if you keep up with the inconvenient start up and shut down procedures and provide the needed maintenance the reliability is still bad. And the final nail in the coffin is fuel consumption. The rotary mazdas literally burn 3 times more fuel than the ND. Rose tinted glasses nostalgia is a hell of a drug.

I think this is not just about the RX8 but also applicable to many other cars like the NC Miata

Does it need a standalone ecu or a piggyback to turbo charge this? Or can the stock ecu take care of the turbo?

I'm on my 5th RX8. The 1st is the 1st so it won't ever sell, the 2nd was a track toy that I sold when I grew tired of trackdays, the 3rd was a crashed parts car, the 4th I sold when I got a different kind of car(thought I'm done with 8s) so now I'm on my 1st and 5th 8s that I'll never sell. And that "other" car not an 8 is now sitting there rotting on a driveway.

How do you know if you have enough coolant in the Rx-8 R3? The coolant box seems to not show the Min/Max line?

Great story! My passion for the RX8 started when my dad took one home for a test drive. The feeling that car gave me back then was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I was instantly in love. The handling, the suicide doors, the rev counter that seemed to go on forever-it was all perfect. Still the proud owner of an RX8 and have owned three in total. I think I love it even more then I ever did at this moment!

I have a question. I'm looking at a 2004 RX8 and it has 120k miles on it. It doesn't want to hot start. Do you think the engine could be too far gone? I won't be able to do a compression test until bought.

Let's be honest... the RX-8 isn't a looker like the RX-7. Swapping the engine out is like taking out all of the appeal.

2:25 Question, what does "make sure it sits inside the four dots and not on top of them" mean? EDIT - I figured it out. For future viewers - There are 4 tiny black metal posts (dots) sticking up, from the motor mount, where the engine's support arm meets the mount and rests on the top of it. Make sure it lays in that valley between the 4 posts, not on top of the posts.

In the states there is a swap kit for the Camaro V6, lower cost and about 300WHP.

You forgot LFX, J35, 2AR-FXE (w/perf mod), 2GR-FXE (w/perf mod), LV3/LV1, and Mazda's own Duratec 2.3/2.5, but ideally a 2.5 block with 2.3 crank and rods to make it 8000rpm ready. All but the 2.3/2.5 can easily get you to 300-325whp either stock or with minimal mods, and all of the V6s can get you to 375-425whp either with significant N/A mods or boost, with the 2.3/2.5 being capable of 300-400whp boosted on stock internals, itself, and 500+ using forged internals. The LV3 and J35 with lowered compression and boost are good for 600+whp on otherwise stock internals, or E85 and true stock internals. From what I know the LFX takes boost pretty well, but IDK about the internals.
