My Jimi Hendrix Wah (Special, original Thomas design) that I bought back in the '90s originally came with a 470K ohm pot. It sounded lame and eventually stopped working some years later. I replaced it with a Hot Potz 100K ohm simply because that was all the dealer had in stock. After that, it sounded great, with a full sweep! It stopped working again about a month ago so I replaced both the pot and the switch. It still doesn't work, The switch seems to turn on because it makes a faint swoosh sound when the pedal is worked. I'm guessing the inductor coil is bad. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
@whatsstefon
@whatsstefon 13 күн бұрын
I would signal trace to see where the sound is dropping off. It could be an inductor but if you begin replacing parts and hoping for the best, you may find out that you’ve spent more than necessary and it turns out to be a bad solder joint or faulty cap or resistor.

watch newbie here, i accidentally adjusted my tissot watch date during 11 pm for more than 15 times in a single instance( not familiar of the rule of not adjusting during 9 pm till 3 am :") ) is this very dangerous for the whole watch? also how much is the cost of repair if ever
@whatsstefon
@whatsstefon 20 күн бұрын
@@justanotherdude5169 in most cases it’s not advised. If your date is changing as normal you should be okay but avoid making any manual adjustments between those hours. It’s not very dangerous for the entire watch. Just the calendar works. But if a part breaks off and works its way into the movement, it can cause damage. So it’s best to avoid it.

Hey mate, I’ve got a BJ IV, LTD. There’s a hiss when the master is dialed up… not terrible, but there, but when the reverb is dialed up there’s a crackling… also not terrible, but definitely distracting. When reverb is turned off, it disappears… and it seems to lessen a bit when the tube gets hot, but I could be imagining that. Any idea what it may be from that info alone?

Be a lot easier if you tin the terminals before you install the pots.
@whatsstefon
@whatsstefon 2 ай бұрын
The solder would then make the holes close up. Solder isn’t a mechanical connection, it’s an electrical connection. The correct method is to wind some of the bare wire around the terminal and then solder. Instruments endure a great deal of vibration and harm. You want to have some peace of mind that the solder won’t fatigue and break. And with a good soldering iron, set at the correct temperature, you’ll get a good even flow of heat transfer quickly and safely avoiding destroying the internal carbon print of the pot.

I could only guess what it could be. Perhaps the DC power socket is broken, or like in this video, the switch has been bumped and while it may flick on and off it doesn’t make electrical contact. If yours is like mine, then it should also take batteries. Try that and see if is isolated to the DC socket or it’s deeper.
