This is a fine tutorial. Most enjoyable without extra fluff. One comment however, in Hollywood Orchestra Opus there are Chamber presets. It would be interesting to compare those Chamber presets and Hollywood Strings 2 side by side.

Thank you for watching and the suggestion. I only see the Symphonic Orchestra Chamber Ensemble patch, though. the HO Ensemble patches are full size sections or divisi.

SL11 seems pretty competitive with its peers in terms of stem extraction, better in some areas, worse in others. I think where it really stands out though is in the ability to correct those kinds of errors they all have quickly and easily by hand. This was true in SL10 but it was a lot more effort to do a good job. SL11 makes it a lot easier.
@Musictron29 күн бұрын
Does SL 11 seem to take longer to unmix in lower settings than SL 10?
@consordino29 күн бұрын
Correct. I just ran a 4'30" song and SL 10 took 5'20" to unmix at "Best" setting while SL 11 took 8'26" at "High" setting ( Win 11 - 64 GB - i7 chip) Also, on the progress indicator it idled for at least 2 minutes at 99%. I almost canceled, but I saw activity on HDD light, so patience is required.

I find the term "loyalty discount" offensive, as if I have joined a cult and not buying their stuff makes me some kind of traitor. I bought the upgrade of iZototope Music Production Suite 6 to 6.5, for $99. The only change is the upgrade of Rx 10 Standard to 11. So I paid the same as someone upgrading from Rx 9. I feel like iZototope is not being very loyal to me.
@consordinoАй бұрын
Indeed. Cell phone providers operate similarly. Great offers for new customers and for all the rest of us loyal customers slow price increases over the years.
@vinylmastersgr1036Ай бұрын
I don't think it's worth and why? To make songs extremely more loud or to normalise for platforms? Each platform automatically normalizes in standard LUFS and also the majority of artists now makes the masters at -7 LUFS that sound so bassy and distorted. The best it would be a plugin something like reference to copy the eq, dynamics, width etc spectral characterics from one song to another and also to improve the vinyl restoration de-click and de-crackle (for albums that have not released in compact disc). Even vinyl restoration is not the primary purpose of izotope, but it's for separate stems kick, bass, vocals, etc.
@JustinBellcomposerАй бұрын
The optimization is to take the LUFS normalization into account, so you're optimizing how your track will be handled by the streaming algorithms. It is NOT to just to make the music louder, as that would just get it turned down by the normalization. That would just be adding gain into your limiter in mastering. RX Advanced does have EQ Match, an RX standard also has de-click and de-crackle, so the application is well suited for what you're asking for. Maybe you should check out what it has to offer before saying it's not worth it?

This software needs a dGPU of decent quality for the best performance. Best with a 3700X + 3070 Ti with GPU Acceleration Enabled unmixes everything in like 20 seconds on my machine. It isn't much worse on a Laptop with a 4900HS + 2060 with GPU Acceleration Enabled. I can see it taking a lot longer without a dGPU, though. I think there are still too many artifacts in the Stems, but the workflow is really good [in supported DAWs] when used as an ARA2 Process, since you can drag and drop the stems from SpectraLayers to the DAW Arranger. I like that it can do 6 Stems instead of 4, though. If on macOS, I'd probably just split them in 5 seconds in Logic Pro and use its output. It tends to produce less artifacts than SpectraLayers. RX11 is pretty good now, but it takes too much fiddling to get optimal results. I think FX like Reverb Screws these Stem Splitters. I wonder how well they would work if you ran a DeReverb plug-in on the track before hand (probably not well, due to everything being blended together).
@larrycavallucci3258Ай бұрын
Looks like I'm your first comment person! I have a number of Izotope products, and frankly, after awhile, it's even hard to keep track of upgrades. My main expensive one is Ozone 11 Advanced and started with the basic 9 version, with SMALL, incremental upgrades, the only way to make it affordable. I have RX 10 Standard. To me, a $99 upgrade to 11 Standard is not worth only a couple new feature modules, like the streaming review. And it looks like this version is heavy on Dialogue, of which I DO NONE of. I also have other company plugins which do better with things like LUFS. Also a couple of great ADPTR analysis plugins like Metric A/B, Streamliner and Sculpt. I think RX 10 Rebalance had a way to do more than one area, i.e. vocals and bass, for instance, as the initial offering of Rebalance, you could only do ONE. Thank YOU for this video. ONE last thing----on their website, I also did NOT see a comparison "chart" comparing RX 10 and 11 Standard features. I think too many plugins rely too much on their TS Dept to do data on websites, instead of the Marketing Dept. I know, since I used to sell proprietary s/w and hardware many moons ago.

The rebow... hmm
@consordino2 ай бұрын
yeah.. this goes way back to the Diamond Edition when people were debating if it's worth the upgrade from Gold. It's adds a slight bump ( attack is the wrong word) on a note change. As a string player we can play very smooth and tight bow changes which will sound legato, but not the same like a slurred bow. It's usually a combination of both when playing live.

Nice review - thanks! It actually took me about 12 hours to fully download 😞I also have the Composer Cloud subscription, only one I actually have. I think this is a good library and it probably justifies the subscription along with the larger orchestra and possibly the 'Fantasy' orchestra (if you're into that sort of thing). As a stand alone to purchase at that price point, I think it's probably pretty good value for a main chamber sized option?
@consordino2 ай бұрын

Sometimes, I forget that I have them since I tend to gravitate towards the libraries in Kontakt Player free version. Also, I have Performance Samples Pacific and Vista that I rarely use for this same reason. Beautiful libraries, but out of sight, out of mind.

I'm in the same boat as you. I upgraded from 9 to 10 but am put off by the price for the 10 to 11 upgrade. I was certainly thinking about going for it but I've done a lot of research and the number of real changes to the quality of the end result does not justify $149 for Oz 11. The Clarity module does intrigue me, though. But like you, I'll probably wait until 12. Thanks for the great video!

I jumped on board with Ozone 10 as I felt that the features they added were worth the upgrade. Now, after I learned a thing or two all I use from this suite is Stabiliser and Maximiser. There is not that much of an improvement for me in Ozone 11 to justify such a steep upgrade price at this point. I'll be waiting 'till next year for Ozone 12 and then will see if it's worth it.
