Best place around for sledging when it snows, used to host Jazz on the Hill which was a great local event, lovely pub, beautiful small village.

Fun fact: My nana and grandad used to own the Waterfront Inn, my mother was born in the cellar there and everyone toasted it at the bar after, haha 🍾🥂

Hi, I used to live in Walkeringham. My friend lived at the house that caught your attention at 3:10. It used to be a schoolhouse and is possibly the one you mentioned at 12:22 (can't be sure its the one you mentioned, but it was definitely an old Schoolhouse and it still has some features inside, an old wooden spiral staircase). The houses on the right at 14:44 used to the a pub and hotel called the Brickmakers Arms. The other pub The Three Horseshoes used to be opposite the red phonebox on the High street.

Thanks for that mention of the 28 days later forum at about 29:20, it looks like a good discussion forum about urban exploring including old hospitals etc. I didn't know Bradfield covered such a big area, it's very interesting.

I never heard of Hambleton before. I thought I had an alright knowledge of the Geography of England but this area was one new to me 🙂
@TheVillageIdiot21 сағат бұрын
Theoretically, it doesn't exist now because of the North Yorkshire council amalgamation last year, but I'd already started North Yorkshire before that happened, so I'm keeping Hambleton alive 😉

"-Ing-" generally means family, descendents, people. "-ingham" is usually "(person) people's village". The village where Ket's people live.

That is indeed a mushroom at 9:30, and it looks like a Dryad's Saddle (can't fully tell) and according to WildFoodUK, it's probably the largest capped mushroom in Britain and is edible, most common use is in vegan stock. Kilsby does look like a fantastic place to visit, certainly has more than I think and I'm looking at taking a proper visit to Northamptonshire in the future, so this will be added to my list!

Just for anybody interested, Thurvaston's name means “Thurferth’s Farm” and is a combination of the Old Norse name Thurferth and Old English tun meaning farm or settlement.

Would these houses in the country have open fires? Seeing as you passed a few oil lorries I figured an open fire may be a thing

Yes it's likely. A lot of the ones that are truly in the sticks don't have gas

Prior to watching this series, I kept mistaking Rushcliffe as being in Leicestershire than Nottinghamshire, but I now know where it is. Also, I actually expected this to come out earlier this year when you mentioned a railway parish, but Peartree was a welcoming surprise to see!

This reminds me a lot of Ipswich Airport in Suffolk, it was closed before my time, but the site was given over to housing. A very similar story to Nottingham Airport - although this one may not go the way of Ipswich Airport, at least let's hope not.
