Should D&M #8 be an operating locomotive on the Weiser Railroad? I think it should

I grew up on that Grand Trunk Western line just outside of Carson City. Great memories. Line west of Carson all ripped up now which once extended to Muskegon through Greenville...

....Engine 7 was from the ORIGINAL FOUNDERS OF THE NATIONAL RAILROAD MUSEUM IN GREEN BAY WISCONSIN USA 🇺🇸 AND ASHWAUBENON AT THE MENOMINEE SUGAR COMPANY ON SOUTH BROADWAY ABOUT 1/2 MILE AWAY FROM THE NRRM DURING 1962 TO 1984, THE ONLY STEAMER TO WORK AT A LOCAL COMPANY IN THE GREEN BAY AREA!! "SUGAR BEET 25-ENGINE" WAS ALSO FOR SOME SPARE PARTS FOR THEIR OTHER SMALL ALCO SADDLETANK 29 CALLED "BRILLION PIONEER" BUT USED ONLY UNTIL 1975; WHEN THE TINY PLYMOUTH SHUNTER 702 WAS PULLING THE 2-TWO 1956 AEROTRAIN COACHES AROUND THE TINY CIRCLE OF TRACK ####!! BUT IN 1980 TO 1986 THE NRRM WAS CONTROLLED BY THE OUTSIDE MANAGEMENT GROUP. THEY DECIDED TO RID THE NRRM OF 13 PIECES; BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT TO WASTE THEIR GOOD MONEY ON RESTORATIONS. BUT SEVERAL PIECES WERE SCRAPPED AND DESTROYED BY THEM; WITH THE 1934 PLYMOUTH 50-TONNER CENTER CAB FROM MISSOURI!!! AND THE STEAM POWERED INDUSTRIAL CRANE FROM THE APPLETON PAPER MILL!!! ALSO THE PICKLE CAR WITH 4 WOOD 🪵 BARRELS FROM OUR NEARBY CANNERY!!! HOWEVER THIS ENGINE IS NUMBER 25, 0-4-0T FROM THE SUGAR FACTORY 🏭 LOCATED NEXT TO THE C&NW MAINLINE OF THE FOX RIVER VALLEY SUBDIVISION AT M.P. 239!!! WE THE RAILFANS OF GREEN BAY TRIED TO SAVE SUGAR BEET 25. BUT INSTEAD THE OUTSIDE MANAGEMENT SOLD IT TO A "MR. JONES" FROM UPPER MICHIGAN; THEN HE DISASSEMBLED IT AND TRUCKED IT WAY UP NORTH TO THE KEEWEENAW PENINSULA NEAR HOUGHTON AND HANCOCK. YET STORED OUTSIDE, NEARLY 15 YEARS; UNTIL THE 1990 DECADE WHEN IT ARRIVED IN BUCKLEY IN LOWER MICHIGAN NEAR TRAVERSE CITY; WHEN THEIR VOLUNTEERS REBUILT 25 FOR FULL OPERATION 😊CONGRATULATIONS ‼️ SOON I WILL COME OVER TO BUCKLEY AND SEE MY FAVOURITE 040T ONCE AGAIN!!!!! GOD ✝️ BLESS 🙏 AMERICA 🇺🇸 🙌 ❤ ✝️!!!!! OK!! SUNDAY. APRIL 20. 2024A.D.!!!!! Ps: please see mire information at site: "www.steamlocomotive.info" With photos 📸 of Steam locomotives 🚂 ❤ all around the Globe 🌎 😀!!! Also: i Steven was the Official Tour Guide and full time paid employee at NRRM from 1984 to 1989; in many jobs like Train Conductor and the Groundskeeper. Also volunteer on weekends due to staff shortage. And member of the H.O. SCALE MODEL RAILROAD CLUB IN THE HOOD JUNCTION DEPOT. ALSO THE MINI LIVE STEAMER LOCOMOTIVE 🚂 CLUB TRYING TO REPAIR THE LARGE SCALE MODEL OF THE 20TH CENTURY LIMITED J3A STREAMLINER 4-6-4 HUDSON THAT WAS DAMAGED IN AUGUST 1977. BUT MY PROJECT WAS SUDDENLY CANCELED BY THE NEW RUDE MANAGER IN 1991. BUT HE ALSO CANCELED THE RESTORATION OF THE NARROW GUAGE SHAY 5 BUT IT HAS LAIN IN PIECES SCATTERED AROUND HAPHAZARDLY FOR THE PAST 33 YEARS!!! VERY SAD 😢 INDEED!!!

@garyschweitzer94096 ай бұрын
Tracks are not abandoned. They are owned by Great Lakes Central Railroad leased to Wheels On Rails rail biking business. We worked there during the summer. Have access to the track for maintenance and cleaning.

Awesome footage, crazy to think Crapo is 90% gone. Any idea how long they will run Alpena? She seems like they are still running her strong but her age sure is climbing..
@HarryPost-o9c4 ай бұрын
I was Third Asst. Engineer on the SS Alpena in 2023. The reason that the Alpena is still in use and will probably stay in use for the foreseeable future is because she is the only ship that can fit into all the cement ports on the Great Lakes. That was exactly why she was shortened 120 ft.

It’s sad to see great veterans of the Great Lakes ending their careers. One is permanently retired/scrapped and who knows how much longer before the J.A.W. will be around. I grew up on that line just west of Carson City. GTW all the way through Greenville connecting South to Lowell and then Grand Rapids. All torn up since the 80s I think and the line shut down in Greenville when Electrolux stopped shipping by rail and closed. There were 2 railroad connections in Greenville back in the day. Sad that the tracks are all gone now. I remember steam engines on the GTW line...
