I used Ancestry DNA and found out my dad is not my dad. My mother is no longer alive to discuss this information with her

Egyptians are genetically a mixture of North African, Levantine, Anatolian with some African, central Asian and European ancestries in various proportions. It’s more likely that Egyptians and Arabs sharing similar common ancestry than modern Egyptians descending from Arab conquest of Egypt. You would expect that descendants of Arabs would be Muslim rather than Christian (Coptic). I am sorry you grew up not having known your biological father. Does he know about you? Did your Egyptian relatives welcome you? You are brave to make this video considering the negative (likely internalized) image of Middle Eastern people in Western culture. On the other hand having a connection with such a country and a civilization that spanned millennia should be a source of deep reflection if not tremendous pride! I wish you the best!

Your mom lied to you so bad. And your fake dad did too. It seems like they did not care or were just plain mean. Having a difficult mother is something a lot of people go through. Adding a cat in a vid is always a welcome aspect.

Her mother really created a massive problem for this young woman. A massive psychological shock, a brain f..., if you will. Like an episode of The Twilight Zone. And seemed like the mother did it selfishly to keep the relationship with the fake dad and fake dad did it to keep the relationship with her mother, all at the expense of this young woman. It's sick.

There is a difference between a dad and a father. Anyone can father a child but ‘dadding’ is different. It involves care and love. I am well past 75 years old and know who my father was yet I never felt that I had a dad. He was not a nice man. The dad that raises you and loves you is your father despite your DNA.

Quick update here: On June 8th 2019, after finding out her biological father wasn't actually her biological father - she had gone into a depression. During 2020 she had contracted Covid 19 and in March of 2021 she unfortunately succumbed to her illness and past away. RIP Beautiful soul.

I don't know if this is what happened in your case, but it is a pretty big phenomenon of Middle Eastern men coming to university in the United States having relations while here that sometimes result in children, and then going home and getting married and going on with life. Typically, most of these men culturally do not feel they can acknowledge these children for a variety of cultural and legal reasons. I recently saw a story from a young man whose dad was Saudi in this kind of scenario, and his mother had given him a name and he found his father and went to Saudi when it opened up. He did not get to meet his father but he did meet some cousins who were good hosts for him.

Yes, I saw that documentary too. I don't know if that docu was the one with a young Colombian (or Latino) / half Saudi boy? I felt more sad for the little boy since he's still so young & wants to see & know his dad. He's even learning Arabic at the local mosque to be able to connect with his dad in the future. For the other guy, I also felt sad that his father didn't want to meet or acknowledge him. I'm glad his cousins stepped up & treated him well. Since he's already an adult, his identity has been formed and I think he was able to handle the rejection from his father well.

It's an interesting aspect of DNA testing how your identity can change after getting the results. You just see yourself in a different light.

I wish you all the best in your life, and time will heal this pain for sure. But this father whom you said was sh!tty to uou wasn't your father and ge probably suspected that. But in contrast, you didn't even say a single bad word about your narcissistic mother. You used the language of an enabler while describing your mother, and you're probably codependent. I don't mean to prosecute you personally here. However, as a man who's alienated from my daughter and had a terrible mother myself, I definitely know how the system and society are biased towards women. Don't you see how the father who wasn't a father was also a victim of your mother? He had doubts, and one can't control his subconscious thoughts, but what seems to be a narcissistic mom who lied to you and the poor guy whom you thought is the father always knew who the real father is, but you were way too careful while choosing your words to describe her. You're probably still codependent like I said, but I wish that people could recognize the different ways of discrimination against father and expose the brainwashing that's involved. Society totally accepts this as normal behavior.

I feel you. My mom was difficult with a nervous religious fanatic disorder. I never heard my mom or dad ever saying I love you to me. She once told me I was not expected when I was born in 1945. She was like 41 years old at the time so I was the youngest out of four children. Given this I always wondered if I really belonged to that family. All are dead now so I will never know and have not the courage to take a DNA test. Good luck to you and I understand your pain.

Why not take a DNA test?

@@SamStone1964 Oh, I live in the Philippines now but I could do that if I was 80% sure I was not theirs. The fact is I look just like them and now that I am 80 years old I will know soon enough anyway. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I have a similar situation. I have a daughter who is 13 and the mother and (father) refuse to tell her that I am her biological father. I tried to reason with those two but they tell me they don’t feel comfortable telling her the truth. They claim she is too young. I said I think it’s best that Bella should know the truth and let her decide how she wants to handle. I have tried to reason with all over and over again. They say I am crazy for wanting to tell her. I think when she finds out all the closest people to her that claim they love her continued to lie over and over again it will break her hurt. Am in the wrong here?

Thank you for this and for your bravery in sharing your story with us. It's likely I have a half-sister out there who I remember as a baby, but so far have never tried to contact because of not wanting to blow her life open by saying (with very good evidence) that her bio-father was not who the man she though was her dad. We are both now in our 60s-70 and I'm wondering what the kindest course of action would be -- to tell or not to tell. Your situation is different, but thanks for helping all of us who face situations like this. All best to you!

I took the DNA test 5 years ago and found many cousins around the world. My parents are from two different Arab countries. Two weeks ago I found a new 2nd or 3rd cousin from a European country who discovered that he is half brother to whom he thought to be a full brother from a happily married couple, and his father passed away few years ago. He asked me to help him find his biological father, and I found that he is my cousin from both sides of my parents and that helped me to find out without any doubt who is his Arab father who is a doctor and lives about two hours away by car from his area. Sure he was shocked. I keep asking myself if I was wrong to help him ?????? But without me he would have passed the rest of his life looking for his biological father. What you think? Am I wrong ?

Do you think it may be possible that he may have had past ancestors that lived in Egypt but migrated over to Israel and so the following generations had Egyptian blood despite them living in Israel as Israel and Egypt share a border? I'm really sorry about your situation though, much love ❤

Sounds like your mother is like my mother. My mother was a very evil selfish woman, who never took responsibility for anything she did. She took two fathers away from me. She abandoned me, so she could fight, have orgies n get drunk. When I was with her, all she did was abuse me. She says she didn't have to take care of me, cause my father impregnated her, against her will. However, she did know how to call me for money, every time she needed, after I was grown.
@Soulsphere0013 ай бұрын
I'm so sorry this happened to you, because I'm betting it feels like your mother betrayed you. What she did was wrong; she should have been completely honest with you. That being said, it's possible that she thought she was protecting you. Maybe your biological father didn't want a child and left your mother because of that reason. I'm not saying what she did was understandable, I'm just trying to come up with one possible reason for why she lied to you. Anyway, I wish you the best and hope you're doing a lot better now.
