Hi good quality video but some things are done incorrectly. The door locks you didn't take the mounting plate off the lock that is why they wouldn't fit in the cut hole. the Stricker plates you put on back to front that is why the rivets where to long enough.

Great job it looks really good. Just a little tip to save you a little bit of time you can simply join the neutrals at the loop terminal at the switch and not have to solder and join them separately, just make sure theres no exposed copper showing that can touch the active. What you did was awesome just another to do it ( loop is just a genral termination point on the switch much like joining them separately)

You probably need to make a permanent change to the door interlock by identifying the switch and permanently bridge it out. If the problem comes back later not being able to drive could be a problem. I think you can also remove the lock from under the accelerator?

@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Hi David, The bus is currently at the mechanic, but we can give you a rough estimate. From behind the drivers seat to the rear is approximately 5.8 metres in length. The width at the floor is around 2.1 metres, and the maximum width at the window's is around 2.25 metres. We can't remember the exact stairwell dimensions but from memory it comes in approximately 50cm or so. Hope this gives you some idea, even if not exact! Thanks again 😊

🆘 🆘 🆘 📣 ❌❌❌ Great video really helpful… instructions that come with the kit from company were dismal,however I was able to be at their location and I asked in-depth instructions and made a video for the install. Can I just point out so others don’t make the same mistake you guys did and that is the metal stoppers / lock area attached to bus at the bottom, you have put them on completely incorrectly. You must have the double layer the other way so the lock has a double layer of metal to lock into if that makes sense (double must be the visible end). The thin end is what attaches to the bus. That is why you made the comment about the rivets being barely big enough. They are perfect if you install it property… if I am not making sense to anyone feel free to ask for further clarification from me. 🚌

You can get a similar one from DIY RV Solutions diyrvsolutions.com.au/products/sliding-door-conversion-toyota-coaster-post-93-adr-approved We can't personally speak to the quality but know lots of people that use products from them and it looks very similar to the one we used.

Hey great to see back on line again after such a long time. One year ago I bought a replacement bus as our roof on the Coaster was too low for us, us being 1.85 m. I converted it in the rainy season and by December it was ready for independent camping. It is a Brasilian Marcopolo Agrale a 27 passenger tourism coach with nice soft suspension , AC, and soundproofing, and air brakes. We have spent the last 5 months on the road (or beach) and have returned home now the rains have started. I am sure you have progressed from the the floor work a long time ago, and I hope your build progresses and you both enjoy the pleasures of the road once again soon. Best wishes to you both from Costa Rica.

Coming along nicely my original floors in my Mitsi Rosa were 12mm so should be okay if you have lots of framing. Take care when screwing to you new subfloor with screws for 12mm thick. You can glue and screw the framing to it or go through to original steel frames. Mark out where your steel frames are now.
@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Doug, we have been in it a while now and no issues with the 12mm floor either 😀 And definitely a good idea! We siliconed first, then followed the metal underneath and just screwed into that. Thanks again!

@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Hi Benny, We have definitely bottomed out a few times! The main spots are coming in and out of service stations where it dips. We have to take them on an angle rather than straight on. We have also stayed in a bush camp and got a little stuck in a rut where they bottomed out. Ours got quite a few scrapes, but never any issues beyond that. We just try to be mindful. Hope that helps!

Hi mate, why didn't you use JG from tanks up to pump? Was it better to use the food grade hose for some reason?
@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Hey, the instructions for the shurflo ask for flexible hose either side of the pump. We did this for in the inlet but didn't bother going 30cm flexible to JG on the outlet. We use food grade because we found you get a plastic-like taste from hoses that aren't food grade
@markh66762 жыл бұрын
@@RoamingonRubber no worries, Shurflo recommend flexible either side because it absorbs the pump vibrations whereas the rigid JG won't. But, you only need a short 30-45cm piece either side, you can just use those made up flexible braided plumbing hoses. Especially important on the delivery side as there's more vibration. Queitens the pump right down.

Hi. Great series folks. What were you squirting onto the walls before the earth wool. Was it some kind of no-nails?

Hi, thanks for that! Yes you are right, it is just a liquid nails. After doing it, the earthwool in most places didn't reall require it as it would just squish inbetween the areas. However with the roof, it helped to hold it in position until the boards went up. Thanks again!

Hi 👋 I have installed the same Sony head unit in the same location. I had two problems. 1. The pink wire, which is supposed to be constant 12v supply is actually not constant (in my bus). It is only live with the ignition in accessory mode. I have not yet worked out why. If anyone else had the same issue I would appreciate any solution or feedback. 2. I find the position of the head unit to be too low. It makes it hard to see for looking at the display which is bad for using the navigation functionality of the car play. I’m thinking to mount it up on the dash. To do this I will have to make a 3d printed casing. Any thoughts or feedback pls?
@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Hi, sorry for the late reply! We no longer have this bus so really not sure on the wiring side of things. Hopefully you have been able to work it out though! With the positioning, we agree that sometimes it is a bit hard to see. We have a different one in our new Mercedes Vario, but have purchased a dash mount kit. It allows you to mount the system on top of the dash. I will attach the link below (it can be purchased from other places but this gives you an idea). Hope that helps! frankiesautoelectrics.com.au/aerpro-ap9100-universal-u-dash-bracket-double-din/

Hi, really love your videos, question, do you need electrician to install solar to the motorhome 12v system or can I do it? does it need to be certified?
@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank, no in Australia you are allowed to do the 12V yourself. Both 12v and 24v is considered low voltage. It is if you have any 240v that needs to be installed by a qualified electrician and certified. At least in Australia where we are anyways, not sure in other countries. Hope that helps!
@1knightinbangkok946 Жыл бұрын
I think you will find that in Australia, anything over 60 volts needs to be done by an electrician. Looking at your solar panels, these appear to be over 60V. Most people don't know this and do it themselves, but as long as your careful you should be ok.

Do you remember how much was the plane plywood? Im thinking that might be a good roofing substitute for the pine planks to keep the weight off the coaster build i plan to do:) I love binging your build so far, Cheers!
@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Hi Bhry! The aircraft plywood is super lightweight, however it is very expensive. That one sheet (which I think was around 1 metre by maybe 900mm) was approximately $90. Just have to work out if its cost efficient for you. Not sure if you can get larger sheets and then see if its cheaper to buy that way. Haha glad you are enjoying it! Good luck with your future build 😁

Did you have to get a mod plate for the seat removal ?. Loved watching your build
@RoamingonRubber2 жыл бұрын
Hi, when we spoke to our engineer, he advised to do all of the work, including removing the seats, and he would do all of the certifications and mod plates at the same time. For us, this was because the bus was unregistered and not going to be used throughout the build. If we were to be registering and driving it throughout, we would of needed to remove the seats, and get ot modified to a 2 seater 'panel van'. Then at the end of the build, get it modified again to a motorhome. For us just doing it once was easier. Hope that helps!
