Telling US salaries are higher is not correct. Only in select cities like SF, NY etc. and/or in top tech companies' salaries are higher. Even in those it is mostly because of stock options.

Very good informations. I would add that if the two federal swiss schools (ETHZ/EPFL) compete with the best American universities and OxBridge, the tuition fees are 1,750 USD/year. An advantage in Lausanne where the cost of living is 30% cheaper than in Zurich. Certainly the best country to study science and technology at an international level almost for free.

Yes, but there are valid subdomain within SDE. There are jobs with that title in the industry. Each will require different expertise. For example, as a traditional SDE, no one will expect you to know A/B testing, hypothesis testing, statistics, partial differential equations etc. But if you apply for AI engineer, Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist position, they will expect and interview you on those concepts. Similarly for AI engineer they will not expect you know complex algorithms. But for traditional SDE, it will be required. For DevOps, knowledge of Kubernetes will be required. Many taditional SDE position will not require that knowledge.

NJI is okay institute. I have had few friends who have graduated from there and are doing good. They have landed job successfully. However dynamic of the Tech market has significantly changed in past couple of years. Competition will be stiff for job lately!

It depends. Many universities on this list is still good option for CS. For example, Purdue university, Texas University, Arizona State (virtually Amazon recruitment centre) are all good option. Recently market has been tough for CS major and it is very unlikely that students would get 200-300k packages upon graduation like 2020. But not getting a job with reasonable (100-150k target) is very unlikely if you graduate from these university. Then I believe it would be a skills issue. Students of these university will get opportunities to interview and intern provided they are skilled!

Sir, I've applied for the Bachelor of CS(Honours) in Sheridan College (Oakville Campus) and Information Systems Engineering in Humber College(North Campus) for Fall 2024(September intake), tuition fees for each college is approx.~80000 CAD. Universities are very expensive in Ontario on comparing with colleges, though in Sheridan Coop is mandatory for 3 terms means for 1 year and in humber college the Coop is for 2 months which is optional. So I should go for which college ? and also there are certain universities such as University of New Brunswick and University of Winnipeg, but they are in regional area, so there are not many opportunities available upon graduation or during internships. and Also is it good to pursue CS/Software Engineering as a career in 2024 as it will take many years from now to graduate. OR is should go for another field such as Civil Engineering because I have interest in Civil, although both CS and Civil are different but I have interest in both. please suggest me something!!

To be most effective, you can choose a cloud that you want to work on. Start exploring KZbin videos. For any cloud computing certification, there is extensive curriculum free of cost listed on official cloud vendors. You can use that to get certification.

Yes but the transition journey will be bit difficult! You will first need to transition to Data Engineering and then data science. Or you will need to do projects to show case your data science skills and then you should be able to transition!

For cyber security, I have covered 3 certifications in the video. CISSP, CISM, and AWS security. For Java oracle certification would be good. Salesforce's associate certification is good as well for the entry level.

If you are student, I would advice you to focus on ensuring your fundamentals and DSA are strong. If you are working as entry-level software engineer, then I would advice you to look into your company's deployment and outage process. Senior engineer from your company can help you get more understanding of this! Learning about deployment and outage process will help you get to know about fundamentals of cloud computing, data analysis and security. Once you know the basic, expand your knowledge. Remember learning is a process. Be consistent and focus on spending some time learning about new concepts every week! You can do this by reading or doing online course or taking to senior engineer in your company!

Why not study AI within CS? AI engineer would be in high demand to automate other jobs after automating CS. So that would be safe bet! But complete automation is still far away!

Number of rounds in compaies which are either startup, service-based, product-based,MAANG and remote. Coding interviews, DSA, System Design etc varying as per the level of work experience. It would be great if you could share salary negotiations tips as well, especially for immigrants who do not have "Canadian Experience". KZbin is saturated with videos on how to find jobs, but no one talks about the interview process at a granular level which help people prepare accordingly.

CSIM, CISSP and PMP are the only certifications that do require prior experience. For rest of them, I would recommend having prior experience. You can be software engineer or at any other position in Tech Industry for that. And later make transition to the new role. But experience is not required to get the certification. If you are well prepared then I would say take the exam and get the certification!
