Yes but the transition journey will be bit difficult! You will first need to transition to Data Engineering and then data science. Or you will need to do projects to show case your data science skills and then you should be able to transition!

Why not study AI within CS? AI engineer would be in high demand to automate other jobs after automating CS. So that would be safe bet! But complete automation is still far away!

What about software test engineers/QA

Responsibilities for testing software are being passed to Software Engineers. And with rise of Micro services, new QA job listing has plateaued. I would highly recommend perusing software engineering or web development. Future for Software Testing engineer and QA engineers looks bleak. More companies are choosing not to create new listing for these positions. Instead they are passing the responsibilities of QA and testing to the developers.

SQA engineers have limited scope in the market as fewer new positions are being listed! I would advise if you can migrate to Software Engineer it would have much better scope!

Software testing field has saturated. For existing testers, there is demand. But there are lot less new opportunities that are generated in the market. It would highly recommend pursuing software engineering instead!

Will Frontend Engineers jobs in demand in the future ?

Frontend jobs are still in demand. However with JavaScript tech stack, more and more roles are being converted into Full stack engineering. You can use React and other popular frameworks for frontend and for backend nodejs and others are popular.

Yes you can always switch your domains after landing your first job. Even if you are front end engineer, there is scope to shift to Full stack engineer easily. However, for AI you might need to showcase skills in AI or work on AI related project in your job. So grab any opportunity that exposes you to AI at your current role and then make the shift to AI!

Tech jobs are still in demand. However compared to 2020-21, demand is lower. Overall there is shift in desired skills for new positions. Now more companies are hiring for jobs that I listed in the video, compared to jobs like QA engineer or Automation Test engineer.

Yes, but there are valid subdomain within SDE. There are jobs with that title in the industry. Each will require different expertise. For example, as a traditional SDE, no one will expect you to know A/B testing, hypothesis testing, statistics, partial differential equations etc. But if you apply for AI engineer, Machine Learning Engineer or Data Scientist position, they will expect and interview you on those concepts. Similarly for AI engineer they will not expect you know complex algorithms. But for traditional SDE, it will be required. For DevOps, knowledge of Kubernetes will be required. Many taditional SDE position will not require that knowledge.
