I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. Sure RE4 started to put the series in that direction, but for me at least I always felt that RE4 didn't overly exaggerate set pieces the way 5 did. I viewed RE4 as a 10, then 5 cranked it up to 11, and 6 up to like a 12 (or higher).

6:28 Yeah, I have to agree with him. Kyrie's just a nothing character, which is a shame because DMC had well-written women in the past. I don't expect her to be Trish or Lady, but make her a person, man.

I'll give you the point for her not being extremely fleshed out, but I'd argue that even if she isn't, not every character in every story has to. In 4 she definitely could have used some fleshing out and it would have been nice if she did more throughout the game as a supporting character. At the very least she helped Nero at 2 moments (in DMC4 and 5) helping Nero's character development.

@OmegaBlackHeart My counter to that is that I'm supposed to care about Nero wanting to rescue Kyrie. But why should I care if she gives me nothing to care about? Especially in fiction, relationships, platonic, familial, or romantic, can't be sustained by one character alone. If I don't care about the protagonist's partner, why should I care when the protagonist wants to save them?

@@SteveCrafts2k good point, but then my only rebuttal would be if the love interest gave me some kind of character trait that makes her unlikable and the closest moment to that was her momentary shock when she happened upon Credo's fight with Nero. Edit: in addition to what I said above, she's a good natured character who only wants to support Nero. So for that I was always willing to look past her bland story.

Not only is the meme it's using outdated at this point (It may have ben funny in 2020 but I didn't watch this video during that timeframe) but the song it plays is something that I am sick of hearing it because of how many times that meme appeared in some of the animal crossing vine videos I've seen. It's not as bad as the stupid Friday song which I had to hear EVERY SINGLE TIME I ENTERED A HISTORY CLASSROOM IN HIGHSCHOOL but it's enough to make me despise having to hear it.

Regarding the initial Mathias sin, Lara clearly showed hesitation with shaking his hand, so she knew something was up with him. It wasn’t obvious to her initially, of course, but Roth also did tell her to trust her instincts. Either him or Jonah, I forget.
