I love stock myself but I can’t grow it. I get awesome germination but when I transplant outside it doesn’t nothing. I would give your shrubs more to get established. I usually don’t cut the first year.

We purchase from A-Roo! They have various sizes and we use a little of all of them! Smaller during tulip season, larger during summer when the bouquets are big! They have a sample pack that you can order!

What is the percentage loss that farmers aim for? I know in Accounts Receivable, losing 20% of payments is expected (and therefore the goal - you don’t want to lose 30%!), whereas my husband was able to keep his record at 2% total losses, annually. I know you already implied that 10% is too much, I just wonder what the expected loss is. 😊

You should get the cool seasons flower book, it changed my spring offering, and I had snapdragons until July, and sweet peas through June which is huge here in Kansas zone 6. We get hot very quickly here, too, but a little later than you at the end of May and June, so I have to fall and early spring plant cool flowers. Plus, strawflowers are my nemesis, they are only cold hardy to zone 8. Also, try Afternoon White cosmos. I found it is more resistant to pests and disease than other cosmos, it has really strong stems and petals, lasts longer in the vase than other white varieties, and it doesn't get translucent as quickly as other white cosmos.

Love the cool season book! It’s such a great resource! Have you bought her newest book? It’s really great too! I still found that afternoon white cosmos struggled here!

Strawflower tips: 100% pinch them when 5-6” tall or you’ll end up with tree trunks for stems. Also; they’re a cool flower but I’ve found they’re quite a bit more sensitive than others.

Great video! I didn’t love status last year but working on growing it better. It was hard to keep weeded and I kept accidentally pulling the plants but so versatile. Another thing I’m trialing is cactus zinnias as cuts although I had already bought mine before I knew about Johnnys so maybe next year for that. Can’t ever be without basil! That smell!!!

Will orlaya grow in the heat too, or is it only a spring crop? I've never tried succession planting it, just curious!
@jordonsflowerfarm15 күн бұрын
Just a spring crop! Here in Oklahoma, it usually starts going to seed in mid May since we get so warm!
@rootedvine987016 күн бұрын
I am really loving your videos. One reason is that I fight the heat also here in the Phoenix area. Last summer 4 months of over 105 degrees. I can only grow cosmos on what I consider the shoulder seasons, plant in March and August. It won’t survive our summer heat but loves the fall which goes to December. One of the surprises for me was that both statice and yarrow “over summered” this year so hope to have very early blooms maybe early March. Looking forward to the plug video.
@jordonsflowerfarm15 күн бұрын
I’m really starting to wonder if we too should only be growing cosmos in the shoulder seasons! They just seem to struggle so much outside of May for me. I oversummered our anemones and they are starting to bloom now!! It’s crazy!

I'm growing QIS apricot, QIS pale blue, and pink pokers statice. I'm not a huge statice fan in general because sea lavender is all over the side of our roads, but these colors are either versatile and/or unique.

Hey! Did you sell tulip stems to your florists last year? And if so, how much were you seeing per stem?
@jordonsflowerfarm21 күн бұрын
I did sell to florists and we were around $1.50-$1.75 a stem to florists, depending on type of tulip. In my area, I found that I had less demand with tulips to florists, however, I know that’s not the case everywhere!

Stock... Same with me. Planted in the fall, but when they came up in spring there wasn't a lot of other flowers out yet to make mixed bouquets. Snap dragon and lupin were much better to use. I am not sure if I will grow tulips in the future but this I such great info! I did get a couple bags of locally grown ones just to grow for myself and to use for some practice test runs. I am going to leave them with the leaves on though so they hopefully will reproduce, and they will pop up next year. we are moving to a totally different growing zone and environment so I am very much starting all over again. I do know it is VERY windy here in the fall so we shall see how they do here.
