I totally agree with your process of marking up. I don't mark up my statice stems either, they are also $1 and my main filler in my roadside stall. But I do mark up on focal flowers I grow like sunflowers, dahlias etc to around $3. Really good video, and not many growers talk about this important stuff, so it is helpful- thanks!

I’m glad you enjoyed the video!! I’ll keep on making more content like this! I think it’s super important to chat about the numbers!

I'm not naturally a numbers person, but a personal goal for me on my micro flower farm is to track everything better this season, so I love this video. I never thought about tracking by the month. it's such a great idea, and im definitely going to try next year!

I track all of our recipes by week and it's honestly so easy, it just takes time to force yourself to sit down and actually do it! It has helped so much by incorporating my harvest sheet into my recipes! Good luck tracking next season!!

Very helpful! It looks like you purchase pre-made flower sleeves. Could you please share details on type, size, price & company? Making Kraft paper wraps drives me a little nuts & am considering buying sleeves. Thanks!!

We purchase from A-Roo! They have various sizes and we use a little of all of them! Smaller during tulip season, larger during summer when the bouquets are big! They have a sample pack that you can order!

Do you have a favorite source for the rose lily bulbs? Such a good June focal.

I always thought that 3x florist number is somewhat arbitrary. For instance if you are buying in situation where you have more volume discount or less shipping per stem it can really skew the numbers. I also think perceived value is different than we might think in the industry. Dara for example is super cheap but often perceived as nearly magical to a lot of people. I love the idea to lean into wildflower week! June was my favorite with the roselillies. Thanks for sharing

You make such great points! Cosmos are always so magical to our florists here and so highly sought after but can be super cheap - very similar to your Dara example! June was one of my favs too! Rose lilies are coming back strong in 2025 on our farm! 🌸 Thanks for watching!!

what is your plan to help with thrips this year?

Sunflowers are surprisingly coldish tolerant. Could you do those in April, if only as a backup?

We tried in the field with no luck this year but I want to do a small trial in our tunnel this year! I think it’s more of a day length issue than cold hardy issue - but I’m not sure!

@@jordonsflowerfarm Per LMZ, ProCut sunflowers are day-length neutral. White Lite may take 77 days in your area from what I've seen elsewhere.

@@floweringevergreen3584I wonder if they will be monster sunflowers if I try to tunnel grow them 😂 I may try a few different options! But I have a few other flowers I’m going to try to have too so we will see!

Do you start from seed or buy plugs?
@jordonsflowerfarm
@jordonsflowerfarm Ай бұрын
It depends on the crop! If it likes to be direct sown, seed! If it needs to be transplanted, I order in plugs. I travel often for my day job so I can’t be trusted to properly grow my own seedlings ha! 🌱

Grow more daffodils for a back up crop for focal flowers for April. You can store them for quite a long time. 🙂

Yes great point! We love daffodils and have about 3000 on the farm! I find our retail customers aren’t in love with them as a focal though! Any favorite varieties?

@jordonsflowerfarm I am thinking of growing doubles next year in my field. 🙃 I like the ones with more petles. Maybe do a more peachy toned one or white one for April. 😊
