I'['m surprised the game disdn't consider the 3-dimensional arena of space. With the stacking poles, we could have easily added a height move, which would have made 3D objects, which can also be laid out with height considerations, a thing. Last year I built a 14' N-scale train layout. I just got into X-wing (cancelled I know, so I'm buying up used ships) and am working on a series of 3x3' foam boards, painted, with dimensional objects, including one with a black hole.

That sounds awesome!! I always thought it would be cool to have a flight based game that used retractable radio antenna technology to quickly raise and lower ships

Apparently the Boarding Patrol game mode is coming back for 10th edition (for real, not just as an afterthought). People might be interested in this idea again.

I bought this set a few years ago also from eBay. I was lucky enough that the seller included the free Bilbo miniature. It is still mint in box, un-built. I'm almost too afraid to build it as its such a rare set. A great value kit as you mentioned Mark. Nice review. Cheers !

So the new Halo Flashpoint game that just got announced uses a grid based movement system...grids that are 3 inches square. So this is absolutely PERFECT for Flashpoint, its sister game Deadzone, as well as Kill Team and other 40k adjacent things? Incredible ingenuity bud, I'm absolutely gonna have to pick me up some of these and get to painting! Cheers for the concept

Have you played Star Wars Legion? It has the same streamlined and thematic flavor as Xwing but with that grounded wargaming feel that scratches the Star Wars itch differently, and has terrain!

Cool video, man! I def think you need one more at least. The trees helped a lot to fill in the spaces but it still looks sparse. However you did a great job. One thing Id recommend is sticking a rock in a box with your foam bricks and shaking it to give them some texture. Cheers!

This could be useful in recreating ship interior or bases, I'm already looking into the size of the Retribution Class Battleship for miniatures, and found it to be as long as 420ft, so creating it in parts, and scattering them for different teams for an ultimate Boarding Action tournament, and using these tiles should be creating everything a lot easier too, especially creating costume door tiles too, air ducts, and who knows what else too lol 🤣
