I've only ever ran a 1911 with extended mags, and I've never even heard of bending the ejector. But maybe that was because I've made sure to have over prevention tabs/etc on all my mags. (Not that that hasn't stopped me from doing it anyways, to the point of a hard stop mid-comp stage.)

Where is the over insertion you all are talking about? 🤷♂️ I see insertion no harder than a competition shooter would insert. If that thing is that delicate, maybe they should come out with a stronger ejector.
@Lit-UP.2 күн бұрын
@@Hangfire79 i agree. I don’t think I was slamming the mags any harder than competition shooters like you stated. But this is a problem for sure. I got the gun back today. Talked with the company. And now we can officially do the review now knowing the issue that was at cause. Which was operator error

I did notice this on mine, what mags would prevent this?
@Lit-UP.3 күн бұрын
@@dapperthedon flush mag with the magwell. Any extended mags that don’t have extended baseplates can cause this. Best way to COMPLETELY avoid it, is to not do drop slide reloads (slide release reloads). Put the mag in. Rack the gun. By doing that there’s no chance the mag can bend the ejector.

Nice review and the gun looks great. I have two originals and both take only 5+1 cartridges so just like your review gun. It could be that some have fewer coils in the spring but I have never seen one like that. Mine are 1st year productions and I don't have to rack them hard at all but it is a long stroke. Ejection is by the next cartridge pushing the previous one out so only the last one sometimes needs to be removed manually; I am sure yours will improve with some good lubrication and plenty of use. The finish on the review gun is a bit more matt looking and while the originals were not highly polished they are not as matt looking like that example but a good coating of gun oil may do the trick. Keep up the great work.

I have one question: Whips are used to hit in front, side, or back side. I am wondering about the up side. In fact I wonder if a whip can hit a drone flying ? ( and I am not talking about the distance) Do you think that feasible ? Thanks

When I shoot my DS 1911s, such as my Hayes, I use a 126 mm magazine. If I use a 140 mag, I attach an appropriate baseplate to prevent over-insertion.
